    • In a control method of an optical disk unit, it is judged by performing a tentative tracking operation of an optical pickup in a constant region of an optical disk whether a tracking position of the optical pickup is located in a land or groove portion. After a correct tracking control condition is judged, an access operation according to command information is executed. The optical disk unit has a two-divisional light receiving element for receiving diffracted light caused by a pregroove and a prepit of the optical disk, and a differentiator for generating a difference signal between signals of this light receiving element. The optical disk unit further has an adder for generating a sum signal of the signals of the light receiving element, and a tracking signal selector for selecting the difference or sum signal when the tracking operation is performed in a pregroove or prepit region, respectively. An optical information recording medium and a method for recording and regenerating information by using this optical information recording medium are also shown.

    • In method of forming a thin film by physical vapor deposition wherein a thin film material is evaporated in a vacuum thereby vapor particles deposit to a surface of a substrate and the thin film is formed, an electrode is arranged near the substrate with good conductivity and low voltage is applied between the substrate and the electrode thereby charges are induced on a growth step of the thin film being formed by the vapor particle group on the surface of the substrate, and the ionized vapor particles of the thin film material introduced in a space between the substrate and the electrode are continuously attracted and made adhere to the growth step inducing charges at low speed because of the low voltage so that the thin film is formed.Charges are induced on the growth step of the thin film by applying low voltage and the ionized vapor particles of the thin film material are subjected to the attraction of the growth step on the substrate, thereby the particles are directed to the growth step and collide with the substrate at low speed and continuously adhere to the growth step.Consequently, the thin film formed on the substrate becomes single crystal or the crystal state close to single crystal so that excellent semiconductor device or the like can be obtained.

    • A turntable for placing a recording disk such as an optical information storage disk has a rotatable shaft to which an electrically conductive rotor is fixed. Inner and outer stators are disposed in confronting relation to each other with the rotor interposed therebetween. Each stator has a C shape with a recess in which there is placed one end of a radial feed unit for moving a pickup head radially across the turntable for recording information on or retrieving information from the disk on the turntable while the latter is being rotated. The outer stator comprises a comb-shaped block having a plurality of teeth with coils wound thereon in different phases. When sinusoidal currents are supplied to the coils, the stator produces a moving sinusoidal magnetic field to rotate the rotor according to the principles of a polyphase induction motor. The rotor may double as the turntable.

    • A moving-coil type motor according to the present invention is composed of a hollow moving coil to which electrical energy is to be applied, a magnetic circuit member made of a material having high permeability which consists of an inner portion disposed within the hollow part of said moving coil and an outer portion disposed outside the same coil, said inner and outer portions being interconnected at their rear ends, and a magnet installed on said magnetic circuit member.
