    • PURPOSE:To simplify the optical system of a phase change type optical disk by providing a cylindrical lens to change a circular beam into an elliptical beam, detachably in the optical path of a laser beam. CONSTITUTION:At the time of information recording, after laser light 16 from the light source 15 of a semiconductor laser is changed into parallel light by a fourth lens 17, it is shape-corrected by two prisms 18,18', and is changed into the circular beam. Next, at the time of erasure, the cylindrical lens 22 is inserted previously between a 1/4 wavelength plate 20 and a mirror 21, and after the light emitted from the light source 15 is changed into the circular beam, it is changed into an elliptically polarized beam by letting it pass through the cylindrical lens 22, and is converged by an objective lens 7, and the elliptical light is irradiated to a recording layer 8. By this constitution, the circular light and the elliptical light can be irradiated by using one light source 15, and the optical system can be simplified.

    • PURPOSE:To realize large-capacity recording, by linearly moving the rotating device of an electron beam disk in accordance with the signal of a central processor and aligning an information processing position with an electron beam projecting position. CONSTITUTION:A beam deflector 14 scans an electron beam 11 converged into a diameter of 0.1mum in an extent of a diameter 500mum under the control of a beam deflector control circuit 17 and writes information on an electron beam disk 16. Moreover, secondary electron beams produced from the disk 16 are detected by using a secondary electron beam detector 8 and recorded information is obtained. Then automatic focusing servo is performed by detecting a dislocation from a track by means of a track position signal reading-out circuit 20 by using the signal of a signal detecting circuit 19. A disk rotating device 15, on the other hand, moves linearly when a disk driving device 23 is actuated by the signal of a disk driving control circuit 22. Therefore, the electron beam 11 moves linearly while the scanning extent of 500mum in diameter is maintained and information can be written on the disk 16 over a wide area.
