    • PURPOSE:To cool the inside of a tunnel lower than outside air temperature without raising humidity by installing a sealed cooler inside a tunnel or at the intake of outside air, and installing a refrigerant supply source for supplying a refrigerant to the sealed cooler through a refrigerant transport pipe. CONSTITUTION:When the temperature of outside air is higher than the allowable temperature of a tunnel, a temperature sensor 13 detects it, and outputs an operation signal to the pump 11 of a cooler 5. Next, the pump 11 pumps up the cooling water 10 inside a cooling water reservoir 8, and supplies it to a water sprinkling head 9. Accordingly, water is sprinkled from a sprinkling head 9 to a heat radiator 6, and the refrigerant in gas phase, which has gone up through a refrigerant transport pipe 7 into a heat radiator 6, is heat-radiated and cooled thereby being returned into the refrigerant in liquid phase, and it is supplied to the sealed cooler 4 through the refrigerant transport pipe 7. As a result, the sealed cooler 4 cools the outside air sent form a blower 3, performing heat exchange. Hereby, the inside of a tunnel can be cooled to the temperature lower than that of outside air without raising the humidity inside the tunnel.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a cooling efficiency from decreasing and to reduce in size a superconducting limiter by standing longitudinally the limiter, arranging a plurality of the limiters at a predetermined interval, and providing a common electrode for connecting the ends of the plurality of limiters. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 22 is formed of a normal conducting member such as copper of a flat plate. Square recesses are provided at a predetermined interval on one side surface. The ends of superconducting limiters 21 are engaged with the recesses, and electrically connected to the limiters 21 by solders 25, etc. An interval capable of feeding refrigerant 32 without resistance may be obtained between the engaged limiters 21. A current lead wire material 24 is made of a wire material of normal conductor or high temperature superconductor. The electrode 22 and the conductive part of the material 24 have sufficient sectional areas for limiting a current at the time of short-circuiting so as not to generate large heat. Accordingly, since the limiter is longitudinally stood and the limiter itself can support its own weight, an electrically insulating board having a large occupying volume is eliminated.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent temperature rise of refrigerant due to pressure rise by providing a current limiter body section comprising an enclosed vessel containing as much refrigerant as immersing a group of superconducting current limiting elements, means for cooling the refrigerant in the enclosed vessel, and means for increasing the pressure in the enclosed vessel. CONSTITUTION:Liquid nitrogen 42 is fed from a refrigerant supply source 48 through a supply pipe 50 into an inner enclosed vessel 44. At that time, supply rate of the liquid nitrogen 42 is regulated appropriately to set the pressure thereof so that production of bubble is prevented. On the other hand, liquid nitrogen 54 filled in an outer enclosed vessel 46 is circulated through a suction pipe 56, a return pipe 58 and a refrigerator 60 thus realizing cooling at a desired temperature within a predetermined range. Temperature of the refrigerant 42 in the inner enclosed vessel 44 for cooling a group of superconducting current limit elements varies according to the temperature variation of the refrigerant 54 in the outer enclosed vessel 46.
