    • A power line communication system is applied in a building and a plurality of power lines is laid in the building. Alternating current and at least a power line communication signal can be transmitted via the plurality of power lines. The power line communication system comprises at least a wireless remote control apparatus, at least a communication equipment and at least a power supply module. At least a wireless signal is transmitted by the at least a wireless remote control apparatus to the at least a communication equipment by using a wireless transmission protocol. The at least a communication equipment is combined with the building for receiving the at least a wireless signal. The at least wireless signal is then transformed into a power line communication signal and the power line communication signal is then transmitted to the at least a power supply module via the plurality of power lines. The at least a power supply module is electrically connected to ends of the plurality of power lines to receive the power line communication signal in order to execute a corresponding action.

    • An asphalt/aggregate composition having enhanced adhesion characteristics and its preparation. An asphalt base material is heated to a molten state in order to permit mixing of the asphalt with added components. A heavy metal soap is incorporated into the asphalt base material to enhance the adhesion of the asphalt base material with an aggregate component which is mixed with the asphalt base material to provide an asphalt/aggregate blend. The asphalt and aggregate can be blended together in a mixing chamber to provide a fluid asphalt/aggregate concrete which is then dispensed on a substrate surface or the asphalt base material and aggregate components can be separately applied to the substrate surface to provide the ultimate asphalt/aggregate concrete. The heavy metal soap is a C14-C18 heavy metal soap such as zinc stearate. Zinc oxide may also be added to the asphalt base material in an amount which is less than the amount of zinc stearate. The asphalt base material may be polymer-modified asphalt and may incorporate a crumb rubber component to provide a rubber-modified asphalt.

    • A laser system and interferometer are disclosed comprising a laser source for generating a laser beam, and first and second adjustable elements wherein the first and second adjustable elements have limited rotational motion so rotation of the first adjustable element causes deviation of a laser beam in one plane and rotation of the second adjustable element causes deviation in a second plane, and a laser beam from the laser source is oblique to a required beam direction whereby rotation of the adjustable elements deviates the laser beam enabling alignment of the laser beam to the required beam direction. The adjustable elements may be rotatable through 90°. The first and second planes may be perpendicular to the required beam direction and to each other. At least one mirror may be provided which can be angularly offset to the required beam direction.

    • A system is provided for mechanically keying a number of cable connectors using a binary coding system to assure within a given set of cables that only one, unique matching set is defined. Binary keying is provided using 2×n holes aligned on each face of opposing key mounting surfaces, the holes aligned such that when a post is secured in a hole on one of such mounting surfaces, it will be received by a matching hole in the opposing mounting surface, provided said opposing mounting surface has been complimentarily keyed. The holes are arranged as bit pairs whereby each hole of the bit pair is assigned as the “0” and “1” position, the bit designated as either “0” or “1” depending into which of the paired holes a keying post is placed. By this system up to 2n uniquely keyed combinations can be provided.
