    • A document scanner, including a document input tray for holding a compilation of documents in a predetermined sequence; a document output tray for receiving documents; an imaging station for scanning each one of said compilation of documents at predefined scanning rate; an imaging transport system for moving the documents received from said document input tray through said imaging station at a first velocity; an inverter, spaced a predetermined distance from said imaging transport system for moving selected documents of said compilation of documents back to said imaging transport system, said inverter having one mode of operation for moving selected documents to said imaging transport system so that a second side of said selected documents is scanned by said imaging station, said inverter having second mode of operation for moving selected documents to said imaging transport system so that said first side of said selected documents are rescanned by said imaging station. There is also provided a processor, in communication with said imaging station and said transport system, for processing image data at a predetermined data rate, said processor includes means for sensing a data rate fault, and means for generating an error signal in response to said data fault to enable said second mode of said inverter, wherein said second mode of operation said imaging transport system moves at a second velocity which is less than said first velocity.

    • In a shared users printing and mailboxing system, with a shared remote printer with an operatively connecting array of lockable mailboxes, in which system electronic print jobs from different users at different locations may be electronically sent to be printed, which hardcopy print jobs are automatically fed into respective selected lockable mailboxes, wherein the printer has an internal paper path for this printing with sheet jam clearance capability and a system for signaling a sheet jam, and at least one openable printer access door providing access to the paper path for jam clearances; a print job security improvement system with an automatic locking system for electronically locking the printer access door and an access door on the mailboxing system during printing of security sensitive print jobs to prevent access to the internal printer paper path, but automatically unlocking the printer access door after the hardcopies have reached the selected mailboxes if there is no sheet jam signal, and maintaining the printer access door locked if there is a sheet jam in the paper path until the automatic locking system is actuated by entry of an authorized jam clearance access code.

A binding strip cassette storage holds a plurality of binding strips for single-file automatic installation onto a series of document sets generated by the xerographic equipment. A spreader member disposed between the cassette storage and the document set opens finger portions of the binding strip as it translates from the cassette and onto the document set.

    • A "mailboxing" unit and system for separating by users the job sheet outputs of various users of a shared users printer. It provides for compiling, finishing, and stacking the sheets sequentially outputted from the printer in separate job sets into one or more temporarily and variably assigned "mailboxes" of a "mailboxing" job sorting accessory unit having a number of variably assignable "mailbox" bins. An integral moving sheet deflector, compiler and stapler unit is shown for collecting, compiling, and optionally stapling, and ejecting job sets of sheets for separate designated users into one or more of these discrete but variably assigned "mailboxes". It may also provide a bypass for sequentially stacking unstapled user sheets directly in a mailbox without compiling and stapling. A variable display indicates the bins into which that particular user's jobs have been placed last and not yet removed. Also disclosed is automatic overflow assignments of additional temporarily designated bins for identified users, as needed, to provide effectively unlimited or "virtual bin" plural job stacking. The "mailboxing" unit may also have "privacy doors"l ocking for restricting access to at least some of the mailbox bins, with electrical door unlocking of selected bins in response to entry of a user access code, and other user features.

    • According to aspects illustrated herein, a system, a printmaking device, and a method for pre-curling and registering media are provided herein. The system includes a media curler system and a deskew mechanism. The media curler system pre-curls at least one of lead edge and a trail edge of a sheet before delivery to a media hold-down transport. The deskew mechanism is coupled to the media curler system for pivoting the media curler system about a pivot axis to deskew the sheet. The pivot axis extends perpendicular to the media transport path. In operation, as the lead edge enters the pre-curling and registration system, the media curler system pre-curls the sheet towards the media hold-down transport. As the sheet is being pre-curled, the deskew mechanism pivots the media curler system about the pivot axis to correct any skew errors in the sheet.
