    • 1,195,198. Haymaking machines. W. T. TEAGLE. 19 Sept., 1967 [15 Aug., 1966], No. 36426/66. Heading A1F. A haymaking machine comprises a frame 1 detachably securable to the rear of a tractor (not shown) with at least one rotary rake-head 14 rotatable in the frame about a substantially vertical axis and provided with a plurality of rigid flexibly-mounted tines 21, the rake-head being driven from a shaft 31 journalled in the frame, to extend longitudinally of the direction of travel, via one or more belts 33, the shaft 31 being driven from the tractor power take-off. The frame may be mounted on tractor hitch-links 5, 8, or it may be towed (Fig. 7, not shown) the ground-supports for the heads being then vertically adjustable castors journalled on the axles 13 of the heads. In Fig. 1 only a single head is provided, the crop being thrown against a screen 36, but in Fig. 5 two oppositelyrotating heads 14, 41 are interconnected by a crossed belt 42, one head 41 being transversely adjustable along a crossmember 48 of the frame. Each head comprises a dished ring 15 integral with a beltpulley 20 and connected to the rotary axle 13 by radial arms 16 and by conicallyarranged struts 17 to the dome 18. Each tine 21 is carried by a rubber bush 23 bonded to a collar 24 secured to both the ring 15 and to a stop-member 26 on the ring. A spring 30 is connected between a flange 27 on the tine and the edge of the ring 15 so that the tine can deflect, against spring-loading.

    • 1,187,207. Rotary mowers; hitches. W. T. TEAGLE. 19 May, 1967 [13 April, 1966; 17 May, 1966], Nos. 16213/66 and 21895/66. Headings A1F and A1P. A rotary mower comprises a wheeled frame 1-4 in which is rotatably mounted a vertical shaft (42) having at its lower end a plurality of radially extending cutting blades 49 and being driven by means of pulleys 55, 58 operatively connected by V-belts 57 twisted intermediate their length, the pulley 58 being secured to a horizontal shaft 60 drivingly connected to the power take-off shaft of a tractor and the frame being provided with means for detachably securing it to the lift linkage of the tractor so that the cutting blades are offset to one side of the path of the tractor. The frame has a first pair of hitching pins 30 for attachment to the lower lift links of the tractor when the mower is in its operative position, and a second pair of pins 33 for attachment to the lift links so that the mower is behind the tractor for transport purposes. The frame has an offside wheel 7 to the axle 9 of which is attached a threaded rod 12 by means of which the wheel 7 can be raised for transport purposes. The nearside wheel 8 is adjustably mounted on a pivoted bracket 18 which is adapted to be mounted on the frame member 4 in the operative position of the mower and on the frame member 1 for transport purposes. A jack 69 is provided to support the frame when the wheel 8 is being changed over. A swath board 67 pivotable about a vertical axis 68 is provided adjacent wheel 8. The cutting blades 49 are enclosed in a housing having a pivoted flap 65 at its forward end to control air circulation in the housing and the rear end 40 is arranged to open to enable cut material to be deposited directly behind the mower. Additional cutting blades may be provided above blades 49, these blades being reversible to present either a sharp edge for cutting or a rounded edge for crimping. In a modification the frame is in two sections, a first section being attachable to the lift linkage and the second section supporting the cutting apparatus and being pivotable on a longitudinal member of the first section for movement, effected by means of a hydraulic ram, between a horizontal working position and a raised transport position.
