    • In a searching or browsing session for Web pages on the World Wide Web (Web), a system for precluding repetitive accessing of documents linked to hyperlinks in a plurality of hypertext documents is presented. The system is directed to a Web communication network with user access via a plurality of data processor controlled interactive receiving display stations for displaying received hypertext documents of at least one display page containing text, images and a plurality of embedded hyperlinks, each hyperlink being user selectable to access and display a respective linked hypertext document. The system includes user interactive means for discounting hyperlinks in received Web documents and means for keeping track of each discounted hyperlink in each received or accessed document. The system further includes means for precluding the accessing of any document linked to a previously discounted hyperlink.

    • A system and method for recovering data from parallel mirror drives following a system crash. During a parallel write to a mirrored disk array, it is unknown which of the disks comprising the disk array write the data to disk first. A completion array is used to record the first disk that stores a data item at a given address. During recovery from a system failure, the completion array is read to identify the last writes performed before the system failure occurred. The disk identified in the completion array is used as the master disk for the particular address identified. Data is read from that disk and address and propagated to the other disks in the mirrored disk array. Other items in the completion array may identify different disks to be used as the master for other addresses. In one embodiment, the completion array is stored in a reserved area of memory that is dumped to disk during a system failure and restored from disk during a subsequent system recovery. In one embodiment, a mirror write consistency check (MWCC) is used in conjunction with the completion array to record writes that are about to occur to the drive array as well as the first drive to successfully store the data. A computer system and a computer program product for recovering from system, failure using a parallel mirror drive array are further disclosed.

    • There is provided a system for dynamically resynchronizing a storage system made up of a plurality of mirrored logical volumes respectively divided into a plurality of mirrored logical data partitions in the event of a system failure. Immediately after the correction of the problem causing the failure, meals start to resynchronize the plurality of logical volumes but without waiting for the resynchronization to be completed; means access data from a data partition in one of said logical volumes. Then there are means for determining whether the portion of the logical volume containing the accessed partition has already been resynchronized, together with means responsive to these determining means for replacing the corresponding data in the other mirrored partitions in the logical volume with the accessed data, in the event that the portion of the logical volume has not been resynchronized. The means for replacing the data in the other mirrored partitions in the logical volume containing the accessed partition may replace the data prior to resynchronization of the logical volume or it may replace the data during the subsequent resynchronization of the logical volume. In the implementation where the data in the other mirrored partitions is replaced during resynchronization, then there is provided interim means responsive to the accessing of data from the data partition in said logical volume for indicating the partition as accessible and for indicating the other mirrored partitions in the logical volume as inaccessible.

    • A Web browser having search capabilities, automatically generates a search list from URLs in the browser's bookmark and/or history files and automatically accesses and searches each URL on the Internet or cache on the browser's computer. Each bookmark or each web page generated for the list, when accessed, may be searched for selected keywords. URL search parameters are entered into the search function, a list of URLs is automatically created from the bookmark file and/or the history file. A new browser is opened and the new browser, in background, accesses the Web or cache, connects when prompted, with each web page listed. Each web page is then searched for keywords provided by a user. Web pages containing the target keywords are then displayed in a format selected by the user on the data processing system display. Individual web pages may be accessed and displayed in successive order by utilizing the graphical “next/previous” buttons present in the web browser window.
