Available codes form a code space that is equally divided into M tiers based on load conditions; M is an integer equal to 1 or greater. Information is scheduled to be transmitted during a particular time slot and is assigned to a particular tier. The information is transmitted during the scheduled time slot using all of the codes of the assigned tier.

摘要： A method and apparatus are provided for dynamically controlling a high speed wireless communication system to optimize utilization of system resources and thereby increase system throughput. The invention operates to determine an allocation of wireless transmission resources to each user application served by the wireless system in a manner to optimize transmission resources while meeting required QoS criteria for the served user application. After all user applications have been provided a transmission resource allocation in this manner, the total transmission resources so allocated are determined and compared with a ceiling transmission resource level for the wireless system. A portion of the difference between the ceiling and currently allocated transmission resource levels is then made available, according to the invention, to the served user applications in proportion to the initial allocation provided each user application.

In particular, the recovery of CDMA encoded signals does not require application of spreading/despreading codes in the original scheme or sequence of application of spreading codes. In one embodiment, code applications may be permuted without losing the original signal which has been encoded. In such applications, not all of the encoding spreading functions results in an increased spreading rate.

摘要： A cellular network includes a control station and a network of base stations installed one per cell with which one or more mobile stations can communicate as they roam through a cell. Redundantly deployed spare base stations are introduced along with the primary base station at a central area of each cell. The redundantly deployed spare base stations handle new calls when the associated primary base station is overloaded, participate in retransmission of data lost due to degraded channel conditions and congestion in the network, and assist in handoffs. Primary and spare satellite stations are deployed in regions marked by hills or valleys to augment the communicative capabilities of the primary and spare base stations.

摘要： A telephone signaling system is operative outside of the traditional calling and data transmission paths to provide originating to termination signaling. Routing of the signaling is in response to a locator system which includes a data base of terminations and a system for keeping up to date information of current termination locations of the intended recipient. In one illustrative embodiment the termination equipment includes locator devices such as GPS locating devices. The information supplied by the GPS locating device is provided to a central data base which routes the signaling system to the intended recipient termination device. The central routing system then selects a voice and data transmission path that optimizes some preselected criteria of transmission. A typical criteria could be cost, or bandwidth or some combination of criteria to be optimized.
