摘要： This invention concerns a procedure and device for refractometric measurement of the degree of ametropia of a human eye. The device for this invention comprises a light-emitting source combined with a focusing lens, which produces an image of this source on the retina of the eye to be tested, a succession of test lenses which are placed in turn between the eye and the focussing lens, so that the optical axis of the relevant test lens coincides with the optical axis of the eye, and a light-intensity detector placed on this same axis at a fixed distance from the eye, together with means of identifying which test lens causes the detector to emit a signal of minimum intensity. The invention applies to instruments to measure visual acuity, more specifically in handicapped or very young patients.

摘要： The invention concerns a process and device for the positioning of an optical measuring instrument and a spectacle frame in relation to each other. The practitioner, operating from a position roughly determined by the point at which the two optical paths converge adjusts the relative position of the spectacle frame and measuring instrument so that the reflection of the side edge of the frame in a semi-transparent mirror located on each side of the device appears directly over the actual image of an alignment mark behind the mirror. This convergence indicates that the frame is in the correct position in relation to the measuring instrument.

摘要： Multifocal ophthalmic lenses are disclosed such as a bifocal lens in which the convex front surface includes an upper part for distant vision having a first spherical surface and a lower part for reading having a second spherical surface, the radius of the first spherical surface being greater than the radius of the second spherical surface. A zone of curvature continuity connects the first and second spherical surfaces along at least one meridian, e.g. a central meridian, of the ophthalmic lens, and the second spherical surface extends away from the zone of surface continuity into a surface of revolution which may be spherical or toroidal. Junctions between the surfaces are defined by ledgeless intersections which are lines of curvature discontinuity extending away from the zone of surface continuity. In case of trifocal lenses, a third crescent-shaped spherical surface, having a radius of length intermediate the radii of the first and second spherical surfaces, is interposed between the first and second spherical surfaces.
