    • The invention relates to an adaptor (10) for mounting a pressure sensor (12) for a high temperature system comprising a sensor carrier means (40) with an axis (26) of elongation, said carrier means (40) being provided at one axial end thereof with mounting means for sealingly mounting said carrier means (40) in a hole (14) in a wall (16), with an end face (36) of said carrier means (40) within a borescope hole (14) being provided with an opening for entrance of pressure fluid from the interior (20) of a gas turbine wall (16) into said carrier means (40) further being provided at the other axial end thereof with a recess (30) for sealingly receiving the pressure sensor (12). The adaptor (10) further comprises a tube means (42) extending through said carrier means (40) parallel to said axis (26) of elongation with one end of said tube means (16) being in fluid connection with said recess (30) and the other end of said tube means (16) being in fluid connection with said opening, said tube means (16) thus forming at least a part of a fluid channel (10) said fluid channel (48) connecting said recess (30) with said opening. The adaptor (10) provides for cooling of the pressure sensor and enables the measurement of high frequency variations.

    • The invention involves the design of a piezoelectric pressure transducer d for measuring pressure-time characteristics in gun tubes during the propellent ignition and burning process. The transducer utilizes one or two Z-cut tourmaline crystals as the piezoelectric pressure sensing element which produces a finite amount of electrical charge for a given change in pressure. The tourmaline crystals are incapsulated in a mechanical fixture which provides means for mounting in the gun tube, electrical terminals for connecting to signal conditioning and recording instrumentation, and insulators for electrically insulating the transducer from the weapon ground. A needle valve is also incorporated in the transducer which provides means for replenishing the thermal protecting material around the crystal assembly without removing the transducer from the weapon.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently dissipate heat accumulated on an cylinder pressure sensor.
      SOLUTION: The cylinder pressure sensor 10 includes a housing 12, a metal stem 13, a diaphragm 14, and a heat conduction fin 15. The housing 12, the metal stem 13 and the diaphragm 14 are united by welding. The heat conduction fin 15 is welded to a side face of the metal step 13 in the vicinity of a side end of the diaphragm 14. Under a condition that the cylinder pressure sensor 10 is attached to an engine head 1, an air space exists between the metal system 13 and an attachment hole 2. The heat conduction fin 15 has a shape by which the heat conduction fin 15 is spaced apart from the attachment hole 2 when the cylinder pressure sensor 10 is attached thereto. The heat conduction fin 15 is made of a shape memory alloy. When the heat conduction fin 15 receives heat, the heat conduction fin 15 extends in the radial direction of the attachment hole 2 so as to be in contact with the attachment hole 2.
