    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress the heat generation of a first coil even if a situation that a large current in startup intermittently flows through the first coil occurs.
      SOLUTION: This electromagnetic switching device is provided with: a contact-actuating first coil 16 and a contact-keeping second coil 17 constituting an excitation coil; a first current-carrying circuit 38 for carrying a current to the first coil 16 only for a predetermined period in startup for closing a contact; a second current-carrying circuit 39 for carrying a current to the second coil 17 in order to keep the contact in the closed state; and a shutoff circuit 40 for shutting off the first current-carrying circuit 38 when the temperature of the first coil 16 exceeds a predetermined value to stop the current-carrying to the first coil 16.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dc relay which can be miniaturized with a simple structure, and also can interrupt dc in a plurality of pairs of contacts in a short time.
      SOLUTION: This dc relay has a plurality of pairs of contacts which can be opened and closed while having a stationary contact on one side and a movable contact on the other, and a single solenoid 200 to open and close each pair of contacts. The exciting coil of this solenoid has a variable mechanism capable of varying ampere-turns. As a concrete example of this variable mechanism, the exciting coil 250 is divided into a plurality of sub-coils (a first coil 251, a second coil 252), each sub-coil only or both sub-coils are excited to make driving force of the drive shaft 210 of the solenoid variable.
