    • In order to increase the dosing precision it is proposed to control the flow of the main component and thereby the measured flow of the main component is used as a variable desired value, and with the control of the flow of the secondary component the control value (the actual value) of the flow of the main component is used for determining or defining the desired value of the flow of the secondary component (which latter-mentioned value is proportional to this control value); as well as to use for this purpose a geared pump (P.sub.8) for the feeding of the main component to a servo controlled member or system (the geared pump being arranged between a pressure vessel (D.sub.S) and a measuring transducer (12)), an electrical machine M.sub.8, which is operable as a motor and drives the pump (P.sub.8) for the main component, which with the electrical machine M.sub.8 which is associated with it forms a regulating element, an electronic four-quadrant controller (16) for the machine (M.sub.8) which is coordinated to the main component and two tacho-generators (T.sub.8, T.sub.10) which are coupled with respectively each one of the two electrical machines (M.sub.8, M.sub.10). The method and apparatus are provided for the principal use with the mixing of a hardener of a two-component lacquer with its mother lacquer.

    • A fluid metering device mixes a predetermined quantity of a first fluid with a larger quantity of second fluid supplied to the device at a higher pressure on each cycle. The pressure of the second fluid provides the force necessary to motivate a first pumping means which on movement to an `outlet` position within a housing displaces the mixed fluids on an outlet side of the first pumping means to their destination. Movement of the first pumping means actuates a second pumping means which pumps a predetermined quantity of the first fluid into the housing on each cycle. On the maximum pumping stroke of the first pumping means being reached at the `outlet` position, a passage is opened in the first pumping means which is then restored to an `inlet` position, the second fluid in the housing passing through the passage during such restoration and thus being available for dispatch on the next pumping stroke. When the first pumping means reaches the `inlet` position the passage closes and a further pumping cycle commences.
