摘要： A mutant strain of the genus Xanthomonas produces a pyruvate-free biopolymer. This biopolymer and the deacetylated form of this new biopolymer provide mobility control solutions which are especially useful for enhanced oil recovery where high brine applications are involved. The mobility control solutions of the present invention may be made from whole or filtered fermentation broth containing the pyruvate-free biopolymer or its deacetylated form. Alternatively, the biopolymer or its deacetylated form may be recovered from the broth and the recovered product used to form the desired mobility control solutions.

摘要： New anionic surfactants and methods of preparation which are derived from aromatic or substituted aromatic molecules and alkene sulfonic acid. Wherein the aryl compound is alkylated and sulfonated in one-step with an alkene sulfonic acid prior to sulfonic acid neutralization. The methods allow the functional sulfonate group to be attached to the end of the alkyl chain rather than to the aromatic ring thus allowing for selective substituted groups, either branched, linear or alkoxylated or combinations thereof to be placed on the aryl compound prior to sulfonation and alkylation. The invention uses the alkene sulfonic acid produced from thin-film sulfonation of an alpha-olefin to alkylate benzene, mono-substituted aromatic, poly-substituted aromatic, alkylbenzene, alkoxylated benzene, polycyclic aromatic, mono-substituted polycyclic aromatic, poly-substituted polycyclic aromatic, naphthalene, alkylnaphthalene, phenol, alkylphenol, alkoxylated phenol, and alkoxylated alkylphenolalkyl substituted or polysubstituted cyclic or polycyclic compounds to produce the corresponding sulfonic acid having an additional alkyl group derived from the alpha-olefin used during the thin-film sulfonation which is either linear or branched.

摘要： An aqueous liquid medium having increased low shear viscosity as provided by dispersing into the aqueous medium (1) a water-soluble polymer having pendant hydrophobic groups, e.g, an acrylamide/dodecyl acrylate/acrylic acid terpolymer. The thickened aqueous medium is suitably employed in applications requiring viscous liquids which retain their viscosity when subjected to shear, heat or high electrolyte (salt) concentrations. Such applications include uses in enhanced oil recovery processes, as fluid mobility control agents, fracturing fluids and drilling muds, as well as hydraulic fluids and lubricants.

摘要： Disclosed are gelled aqueous polymer compositions in brine solutions containing an amount of an anionic partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide capable of gelling in the presence of a gelling agent characterized in that the gelling agent is a water-soluble cationic polyamide-epihalohydrin resin in an amount sufficient to cause a gel to form and is used, preferably, in brine solutions having a salt concentration from about 1% to about 10% at a pH of about 3 to about 11. The compositions are useful in the recovery of oil and gas by fracturing and in enhanced oil recovery.
