    • A GMSK receiver with interference cancellation includes a linear equalizer (309) configured to be coupled to a received signal from a first antenna and to provide first soft bits, an adaptive estimator, e.g., adaptive MLSE (315) coupled to the first soft bits and configured to provide second soft bits; a quality assessor coupled to the first soft bits and configured to provide a quality indication; and a switching function (325) coupled to the linear equalizer and the adaptive MLSE and controlled in accordance with the quality indication to provide output soft bits (331) corresponding to at least one of the first soft bits and the second soft bits. The GMSK receiver can be extended to multiple antennas and corresponding methods for interference cancellation in a GMSK signal are discussed.

    • PURPOSE: A method for updating coefficients of a channel equalizer and a coefficient updating circuit are provided to update tap coefficients of a channel equalizer by applying an LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm or a Kalman algorithm in response to a control signal if an error is not converged within a TOV(Threshold Of Visibility) range, thereby reducing calculations. CONSTITUTION: A convergence examining comparator decides whether an error of a channel equalizer is converged within a TOV range(210). If so, an updating circuit updates tap coefficients of the channel equalizer by using an LMS algorithm(240). If the error is not converged within the TOV range, the channel equalizer decides whether an inputted control signal is a training signal(220). If so, the channel equalizer updates the tap coefficients by using a Kalman algorithm(230).
