摘要： A pen-type pressure indicator, which can be detachably connected to an air compressor for measuring the pressure of compressed air produced in the air compressor, includes a transparent tube and a slider. The slider can be moved along a first bore and a second bore of the transparent tube. The motion of the slider in the transparent tube is similar to the motion of a piston in a cylinder. The transparent tube is provided with a tapered annular surface, between the first bore and the second bore. In addition to measuring the pressure of the compressed air delivered to an object, when the pressure of the compressed air exceeds a predetermined pressure, excessive air can be released into the environment, without requiring the air compressor to be installed with a safety valve, so that the object can be protected from damages due to overpressure.

The indicator has a reference pressure chamber with two flexible wall parts being influenced to deflect upon pressures P1 and P2. The deflection of the wall parts changes a distance between each of the wall parts and an inflexible wall part of the chamber and by inspecting the difference, a pressure difference between P1 and P2 can be determined. To enable visual inspection, the chamber can be filled with an optically detectable fluid and one of the wall parts could be transparent to allow visual reading by determining a colour of the fluid layer below the transparent part.

The gauge includes a motion detection device including a drive magnet that is adapted to be moveable in response to changes in the variable. The pointer rotation device includes a pivot member, a power magnet coupled to the pivot member, and one or more director members located adjacent the power magnet. Each director member includes a generally helical flange. A pointer is coupled to the pointer rotation device. The director members and the power magnet form a magnetic field adapted to magnetically couple the pointer rotation device to the drive magnet. The pointer rotation device is adapted to rotate about a rotational axis. Movement of the drive magnet in response to changes in the variable rotates the pointer rotation device and the pointer about the rotational axis such that the pointer indicates the measured variable.
