    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting unit that can appropriately form a linearly extending high illuminance area using reflected light from a reflector.
      SOLUTION: In the lighting unit, a filament extends at an angle to an optical axis. The reflector reflects illumination light from the filament. The reflector has a first portion for reflecting the illumination light from the filament such that an image of the filament projected on a shade 18 disposed on a focal plane of a projection lens will extend along a first line L1. The reflector superimposes the light reflected by the first portion and the light reflected by surrounding portions thereof at a first opening 18a of the shade 18 to form a first high illuminance area linearly extending along the first line L1. The projection lens projects an inverted image of the light source image formed by the shade 18 on a virtual vertical screen positioned forward of the lighting unit.
