    • The apparatus is adapted for maintaining air/gas operated dental drills, mechanical scalers or other tools by blowing air/gas through the handpiece to purge it from excess substances in order to enhance the life of the toll and meet the requirements of health and safety regulations. The apparatus has an absorbant filter sleeve that will serve to surround the instruments to be purged and an internal filter. It uses a rigidly anchored coupling that can be replaced, as desired. It also uses pneumatic tubing and shuttle valves to direct the air/gas flow along with switches that control the power and operation of the apparatus. A pressure gauge is mounted on the housing to allow the user to observe the pounds per square inch pressure being used in the purging operation. A timer controlling the amount of time the instruments are being purged is also incorporated. A number of ports are used to allow connection air, water and fiber optic lines to the apparatus and exhaust ports are also available.

    • Apparatus and method for automatically and continuously lubricating a rotary drive of an industrial drive such as a pump, roll, or other driven member is disclosed. The apparatus includes a rotary drive coupling assembly that is connected between an input shaft and an output shaft which drives the driven member. There is an axial bore drilled through the center of an input shaft and a transverse bore which communicates with the axial bore and terminates at an exterior of the input shaft. The shaft coupling assembly preferably comprises a first shaft coupling and a second shaft coupling which are connected by a connecting member. A bridge conduit spans the first shaft coupling and terminates at a manifold which is carried about the connecting member. From the manifold, a plurality of injector valves distribute pressurized lubricant delivered by a timed pressure pump to the shaft couplings. Preferably the shaft couplings comprise universal type joint couplings having a plurality of bearings. Dispensing lines carry the pressurized lubricant from the injector valves to the bearings. In this manner, a timed and controlled amount of pressurized lubricant is delivered to the lubrication points of the rotary drive continuously during operations. In alternate embodiments of the invention, different types of shaft couplings are utilized as well as drive arrangements, each of which is provided with lubrication points to which pressurized lubricant is dispensed.

    • A control system for a central lubrication system with an electrically operated lubrication pump for vehicles without their own power source, such as trailers, carriers for utility vehicle, etc., includes an electrical time-controlling device to activate the lubrication pump as a function of the operating time of the vehicle. Power is supplied to the time-controller device and the drive motor for the lubrication pump via the feed lines for the brake light. The time-controlling device has a sensor which detects motion of the vehicle or parts of the vehicle and generates a signal for a second timer during such motion. The second timer adds the durations of the signals sent from the sensor, compares the sum of the durations to a predefined pause time and, when the predefined pause time is exceeded, sends a signal to a third timer, which is thus enabled and in turn sends an enable signal for the activation of the drive motor of the lubrication pump during the next braking operation; the third timing signal adds the durations of successive braking operations during which the drive motor of the lubrication pump is activated, compares the sum of the durations with a predefined operating time and, upon reaching the predefined operating time, sends a signal to the second timer, whereby the enable signal sent from the second timer, and consequently also the enable signal for the activation of the drive motor of the lubrication pump, are cancelled.
