    • A zigzag sewing machine is provided. The zigzag sewing machine includes a stitching motor which moves a needle, a feeding motor which moves a feed dog to feed a cloth, a needle swinging motor which swings the needle, a multistage-operating portion operable to adjust at least one of a feed amount of the cloth and a swing amount of the needle in a minimum adjustable unit, and a control section which controls the stitching motor, the feeding motor and the needle swinging motor to carry out a zigzag sewing in accordance with the at least one of the feed amount and the swing amount adjusted by the multistage-operating portion. The control section is configured to selectively assign a first value and a second to the minimum adjustable unit depending on whether the stitching motor is in operation or not.

    • A blind-stitch sewing machine has an elastic fabric bender to bulge the material to be sewed following each step of advance through an aperture of a throat plate into the arcuate path of motion of an arc needle pivoting to-and-fro transversely to the direction of advance of the material being sewed, and a stop for the bulged material mounted on the throat plate. The stop of the throat plate is designed for the purpose of sewing labels having unevenly thick rims onto the inside of finished garments along the label rim so that the arc needle pierces the edge of the label laid on the garment and emerges from the garment and the label rim is lifted off the garment at the stop so that only the garment is forced by the fabric bender against the stop.

    • The invention concerns a blind stitch sewing machine with an oscillating fabric deflector to make the sewing material bulge into the arcuate path of the arc needle. The minimum spacing of the deflector relative to the arc needle can be adjusted in relation to the thickness of the sewing material detected by a sewing material sensor. A stepping motor is provided to adjust this minimum spacing. A stepping motor control circuit is connected to the sewing material sensor, and to a contact pickup for the arc needle and fabric deflector, the stepping motor being controlled in such a manner that, upon a control circuit start signal, it moves into a particular start position and proceeds during the ensuing sewing by one step per stitch reducing the minimum spacing of the fabric deflector until the contact pickup emits a contact signal relative to the arc needle and the fabric deflector during a measurement window signal. At the end of this signal, the stepping motor moves in the opposite direction by a number of steps dependent on the output signal of the sewing material sensor, to increase the minimum spacing of the fabric deflector.

THESE NODEFORMING ELEMENTS ARE SIMPLY RECIPROCATED TOWARD AND AWAY FROM THE WORK AND ARE ADAPTED TO PRODUCE NODES IN THE WORK BEING STITCHED AT SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT REGIONS OF THE STITCH FORMING ZONE OF THE MACHINE. THE NODE-FORMING ELEMENTS AR SHIFTED IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS IN RELATION TO EACH OTHER, SO THAT AT ONE TIME ONE NODE-FORMING ELEMENT WILL BE ACTIVE WHILE AT ANOTHER TIME THE OTHER NODE-FORMING ELEMENT WILL BE ACTIVE. FOR OPERATING THE NODE-FORMING ELEMENTS BY THE MAIN DRIVE SHAFT OF THE MACHINE A ROTARY ECCENTRIC MEMBER IS PROVIDED WHICH IS DRIVEN AT HALF THE ANGULAR SPEED OF THE MAIN DRIVE SHAFT. THIS PERMITS THE SHIFTING OF ONE NODE FORMER INTO ACTIVE POSITION AND THE OTHER NODE FORMER OUT OF ACTIVE POSITION DURING ONE CYCLE OF OPERATION OF THE MACHINE, WHEREAS THE REVERSE SITUATION TAKES PLACE ON THE NEXT CYCLE OF OPERATION OF THE MACHINE. NO MOVEMENT IS IMPARTED TO THE NODE FORMING ELEMENTS IN OR OPPOSITE TO THE DIRECTION OF MOVEMENT OF THE WORK BEING STITCHED, THE ONLY MOVEMENT OF EACH NODE-FORMING ELEMENT BEING PERPENDICULAR TO THE PATH OF MOVEMENT OF THE WORK IN THE STITCH FORMING ZONE. FEED ROLLERS ARE MOUNTED ON THE WORK SUPPORTING MEMBER OF THE MACHINE, WITH THEIR AXES PERPENDICULAR TO THE LINE OF STITCH FORMATION. THESE FEED ROLLERS SERVE TO URGE THE WORK UPWARDLY IN TWO DIFFERENT BUT ADJACENT REGIONS TOWARD A FIXED PRESSER FOOT.
