    • An apparatus having adjustable saws for wood cutting. A cutting head has at least two spaced apart disk-saws for producing respective slicing cuts in an article of wood, the saws defining respective distinct outer cutting diameters. Preferably, the disk-saws are bolted to the cutting head and spaced apart therefrom adjustable amounts by interdisposed control plates of predetermined thicknesses. Preferably, a first one of the disk-saws defines an annular ring having an inner diameter, and the outer cutting diameter for the first disk-saw is greater than the outer cutting diameter of a second one of the disk-saws. The outer cutting diameter of the second disk-saw is then less than the inner diameter of the first disk-saw, so that the second disk-saw is nested inside the first disk-saw while remaining axially displaceable therefrom. Preferably, the cutting head is relieved behind at least the cutting teeth of the second disk-saw to permit sawdust that migrates past the second disk-saw, into the space defined by the inner diameter of the first disk-saw, the second disk-saw and the cutting head, to exit through the cutting head.

    • A blade arrangement for cutting dados that includes magnetic dado spacers, which firmly adhere through magnetic attraction to the dado blades, is disclosed. Also, with the blade arrangement of the present invention, problems due to blade vibrations are reduced. The cutting width is conveniently measured and adjusted without having to repeatedly install and remove the nut, since the magnetic dado spacers hold adjacent blades firmly together, before they are tightened. Additionally, the use of magnetic dado spacers reduces the possibility of the spacers falling into and becoming caught in the thread of an arbor. A further advantage is that the magnetic dado spacers are much quicker and easier to install than prior art dado spacers. Also, the dado spacers of the present invention securely hold other conventional spacers against a blade, and are easily and economically made in a variety of different diameters, with different arbor hole sizes for fitting different saws, and in a variety of thicknesses for finely adjusting the spacing of dado blades.

    • A divided milling cutter comprises a first cutter half and a second cutter half which are adjustable in relation to each other with respect to their mutual distance and are both connected to a first, common, hydraulic sleeve which has an internal, annular pressure chamber and is threadable on to and securable to a cutter spindle or the like. To make possible a continous or step-less variation of the distance between the cutter halves in a simple way even when they are mounted on the cutter spindle said second cutter half is fastened to a second sleeve which is in threaded engagement with a third, threaded sleeve having a substantially annular flange which abuts an end of, or shoulder on, the first sleeve. In working position the sleeves and the cutter halves are retained on the cutter spindle by pressurizing the hydraulic sleeve for pressing the inner wall of its pressure chamber against the cutter spindle and the outer wall of said chamber against said second sleeve and the inner circumference of said cutter halves.
