    • The present invention generally provides a blind trimming apparatus including a frame supporting a cutting tool, the cutting tool including a cutting edge, a blade holder supported on the frame for movement with respect to the cutting tool along a cutting path, and a blade insert including a cutting edge and being connectable to the blade holder for movement with the blade holder with respect to the cutting tool to trim blinds between the cutting edge of the cutting tool and the cutting edge of the blade insert. One of the blade holder and the blade insert defines a locating recess and the other of the blade holder and the blade insert includes a locating protrusion, which is engageable in the locating recess to align the blade insert with respect to the blade holder.

    • A spiral-binding punch (30) comprising a drive assembly (350) and a die assembly (40), engageable by the drive assembly, which is insertable and removable from the punch, as a unit, without disassembly of the punch or die assembly, thereby enabling easy replacement, or substitution, of the die assembly (40) by another die assembly capable of producing holes of a different size, of a different shape, of a different spacing between adjacent holes, and/or of a different distance relative to a paper edge. According to the preferred embodiment, the die assembly (40) is slidably receivable, in a lateral direction, through an opening (52) in a side of the punch (30) and includes a plurality of adjacent punch dies (300) which extend between upper and lower portions of the die assembly (40). A die assembly sensor (61), oriented so as to be contactable by a die assembly (40), interacts with the drive assembly (350) to automatically prevent operation of the punch and, hence, potential damage to the punch, when no die assembly is present within the punch.

    • A tool positioning device (10) for use in combination with a machine (12) for working paperboard blanks (B) conveyed in a horizontal direction through the machine. The machine (12) includes pairs of parallel rotary shafts wherein each pair of shafts includes upper (S1) and lower shafts (S2) and carry a plurality of tool heads (H1, H2). The positioning device includes a plurality of coupling members (50, 52, 54, 56) actuated in a vertical direction by actuators (34, 36, 38, 40) wherein the coupling members are moved downwardly into engagement with the tool heads.
