    • A tool holder for holding a cutting tool comprises a housing, a sleeve received in one end of the housing, a switch fastened in the other end of the housing, a cover fastened at an end of the housing adjacent to the sleeve to prevent the sleeve from being taken out of the housing, and an elastic member sleeved on the sleeve. The switch is electrically connected to a control system of a main spindle of a CNC turning machine and is applied for controlling the movement of the main spindle. The elastic member is compressed to elastically resist with the sleeve and generates an elastic force to make the sleeve move away from the switch, and the sleeve is slidably configured along the inner surface of the housing to contact the switch to stop the movement of the main spindle of the CNC turning machine.

    • Provided is a tap holder configured so that compression-side elastic characteristics and tension-side elastic characteristics are different from each other with utilization of an elastic member for absorbing synchronization error in rotation and feeding of a spindle of a machine tool. The tap holder includes a chuck 20 for holding a tap P, and a holder body 10 for holding the chuck 20 so that the chuck 20 is movable along a rotational axis X and rotatable in synchronism with the chuck 20. The tap holder further includes elastically deforming members 31, 32, 33 provided in a tension direction and a compression direction, respectively and deformable between the chuck 20 and the holder body 10 when a tension force or a compression force is applied to the tap P along the direction of the rotational axis X, and a deformation reducing mechanism 29 for the elastically deforming members 31, 32, 33 such that a deformation amount along the rotational axis X generated in at least one elastically deforming member 31, 32 of the elastically deforming members 31, 32, 33 disposed respectively in the tension direction and the compression direction is smaller than an amount of displacement of the chuck 20 along the rotational axis X.

    • A self-aligning tapping tool comprises an elongate handle having a longitudinal counterbore through a first end. A tap is received in the counterbore. A collar is operatively secured to the tap. The collar is slightly smaller than the counterbore to enable slidable movement and to prevent rotation of the tap relative to the handle. A retainer is secured to the handled at the first end to retain the collar in the counterbore and has a center opening receiving the tap. A biasing spring in the counterbore biases the tap and the collar outwardly to extend the tap when the handle is turned to thread a hole in a work piece.
