摘要： An elongated deployment shaft carrying a needle deployment assembly with needles carrying sutures and a stabilizer. A catcher tube over the shaft having a catcher assembly at a distal end may retain a portion of the needles when passed through the tissue into engagement with catcher assembly. The catcher and needle deployment assemblies are configured to asynchronously engage the plurality of needles when moved distally beyond the catcher assembly. A sheath over the catcher tube may sandwich the tissue against the stabilizer when expanded. A first actuator may move catcher tube distally to decrease distance between proximal and distal ends of the stabilizer expand it and may move the sheath distally to sandwich the tissue. A second actuator may deflect the needles outward to move proximally through the tissue and engage the catcher and return a portion of each not retained by the catcher to a distal position.

The manufacturing process includes obtaining a catheter or sheath having a distal end and a proximal end, and obtaining a hub pre-formed separately from the catheter or sheath. The hub can include a pre-formed receptacle portion configured to receive a portion of the catheter or sheath. A portion of the catheter or sheath can be inserted into the pre-formed receptacle portion of the hub. The receptacle portion can be melted to a semi-fluid state and can be compressed against the portion of the catheter or sheath in the hub.

In particular, a dilator centering device in accordance with the disclosed technology can be used with a sheath hub assembly. In one embodiment, a dilator centering device includes a lumen capable of receiving a dilator shaft and centering a dilator shaft with respect to the sheath hub as the dilator shaft enters the sheath hub. In one embodiment, the dilator centering device can be attached to the sheath hub during manufacturing or it can be attached at the use site. In one embodiment, the dilator centering device can be integrated with and non-removable from the sheath hub. The embodiments disclosed herein are illustrative and do not limit the scope and spirit of the disclosed technology.

摘要： The present invention relates to a dilator. The dilator includes a shaft, a lumen and a hub. The shaft has at least two stiffness sections with the stiffness sections becoming less rigid as they approach a distal end of the shaft. The varying stiffness sections allow the dilator to track along the guidewire through torturous vasculature so as the dilator is advanced and the stiffness is changed, the stiffer sheath can advance smoothly through a blood vessel. The dilator may also taper at the distal tip to stretch the initial skin puncture hole larger to accommodate the dilator shaft and ease the sheath tip insertion through to the vasculature. Or the shaft may taper from where it extends beyond the sheath distal tip to the distal end so that it can reach further distal in the vasculature. The dilator may also include an atraumatic tip for easier advancement of the dilator. The dilator distal end may also include one or more radiopaque markers and a shaped distal end.
