摘要： The specification discloses an article of furniture, specifically a chair base, in which the open sockets at the ends of the base arms are capped by a cap including a cover portion and a plug portion extending into the arm socket, the plug extending over and beyond the top of the pintle socket which is inside the leg and including a barb extending downwardly behind a portion of the pintle socket, the barb being sufficiently flexible as to allow it to slide over the pintle socket and slip down behind at least a portion of it whereby insertion of the cap is facilitated but removal is not. The plug also includes inclined locking ridges which engage the interior surface of the socket to further secure the cap in place.

SOLUTION: A housing device 10 includes a storage unit 12 to define a front opening 14, and a door 16 to close the front opening 14. The door 16 is operatably attached so as to move between an opening position, a middle position and a closing position. The housing device 10 is provided with a handle 18 which is operationally connected to the door 16 at an position separated from the door 16 to move the door 16 selectively between the opening position, the middle position and the closing position by hand. The handle 18 is disposed at the front center of the storage unit 12, under a bottom part 31 of the unit so as to be easily grasped and operated by a person who is sitting.

SOLUTION: A chair 20 is composed of a base 21, a seat 22 having right/left sides supported by the base, and an arm rest 23. The arm rest has an arm rest support body which is pivotally supported at the one side under the seat and the arm rest support body allows the arm rest to move freely between the first position near the right side and the second position near the second position. The seat is slidably supported on the base either at the front position where a seated user is supported or at the rear position where the arm rest is adjustable by moving the seat between the right and left positions via the front side. The seat is usually energized at the front position by a spring force. The base 21 includes an operation part 26 supporting the back rest 28 which is tiltable backward.
