    • A beta titanium alloy comprises 25 wt % vanadium, 15 wt % chromium, 2 wt % aluminium, up to 0.15 wt % oxygen, 0.1 to 0.3 wt % carbon and the balance titanium plus incidental impurities. The carbon is present in the form of titanium carbide precipitates distributed throughout the beta titanium alloy matrix, the titanium carbide precipitates refine the grain size of the beta titanium alloy matrix and remove oxygen from the beta titanium alloy matrix to reduce precipitation of alpha titanium in the beta titanium alloy matrix to increase the ductility of the beta titanium alloy. The alloy is useful for gas turbine engine compressor blades (10), compressor vanes, compressor casings etc.

    • A drainage device for draining liquid out of a closed chamber includes a main body, a piston assembly, and a transmission assembly. The main body defines a receiving chamber and a liquid inlet communicating with the receiving chamber to the closed chamber. The piston assembly is fixed in the receiving chamber of the main body. The transmission assembly is partially received in the receiving chamber. The transmission assembly and the piston assembly cooperatively separate the receiving chamber to a first chamber adjacent to the liquid inlet and a second chamber away from the liquid inlet. The transmission assembly is slidably received in the receiving chamber, thereby causing air pressure differences between the first chamber and the second chamber, to pump the liquid from the closed chamber to the second chamber. The main body further defines a plurality of discharge holes for draining liquid out of the second chamber.

    • A method of sampling semiconductor wafers includes passing a lot of semiconductor wafers into a semiconductor processing tool, processing a first portion of the lot in one process chamber of the semiconductor processing tool and a second portion of the lot in another process chamber of the semiconductor processing tool to produce processed semiconductor wafers, and initiating a wafer sampling engine to select at least one of the processed semiconductor wafers for sampling. The wafer sampling engine computes a long term process capability index for the processing tool and a short term process performance index for at least one of the processing tool and process chamber, identifies at least one desired sampling measurement type, selects the at least one of the processed semiconductor wafers for sampling, and collects the desired measurement types from the at least one of the processed semiconductor wafers selected for sampling.

    • A coreless permanent motor has a stator and a rotor rotatably mounted to the stator. One of the stator or the rotor has at least one winding disc (28). The other one of the stator or the rotor has at least one surface charged magnet disc (33). The winding disc (28) or the magnet disc (33) is formed by two or more sector shaped units that are mounted to two or more support members (27) respectively. The winding disc (28) or the magnet disc (33) is formed by closing the support member (27) and the closed support members (27) form a cylindrical housing. Thus, the structure of the coreless motor is simplified.
