摘要： A building material composition is prepared from or has added to it a particulate material consisting of a particulate polysaccharide or a particulate polysaccharide derivative. The particulate material is prepared by: a) forming a feed composition consisting of at least one water swellable or water soluble polysaccharide or a derivative thereof and 35-99wt% of water; b) contacting the feed composition with a gas stream in a mill thereby converting simultaneously the water of the feed composition into water vapour and the water swellable or water-soluble polysaccharide or a derivative thereof into a solid state form of finely particulate material; c) separating the particulate material from the gas stream and d) optionally drying the particulate material.

摘要： The present invention relates to a new, particularly economical process for preparing particulate water-soluble cellulose derivatives. The process involves forming a feed composition of swollen and/or dissolved cellulose derivative, and water. The feed composition is contacted with a superheated gas mixture, in a sieve-free high rotational speed gas jet impact mill, and the cellulose derivative of the feed composition is converted into a solid state form of finely particulate particles. The superheated gas mixture, with which the feed composition is contacted, is selected from: (i) a superheated gaseous mixture of steam and an inert gas; and (ii) a superheated gas mixture of steam and air. The superheated gas mixture has a steam content of 40 wt. % to 99 wt. %, based on the total weight of the superheated gas mixture.

摘要： Process for production of water-soluble cellulose derivatives (I) in the form of powder involves: (a) swelling or dissolving (I) in 50-80 wt% water (based on total weight); (b) converting the solution or gel into finely-divided solid particles by vaporising the water in a high-speed rotary impact mill with the aid of a heat transfer/carrier gas; (c) separating the particles from the gas; and (d) optionally, drying. Independent claims are also included for: (i) powdered (I) obtained by this process, comprising less than 5 wt% with a particle size (PD) of less than 15 microns, less than 2 wt% with a PD below 10 microns and less than 1 wt% below 5 microns; (ii) powder (I) with less than 20 wt% below 15 microns, less than 10 wt% below 10 microns and less than 2 wt% below 5 microns; (iii) powder (I) with six different particle size distributions (A-F) as obtained by sieve analysis, e.g. distribution A with 98.5-100 wt% below 0.25 mm (cumulative through fraction), 95-100 wt% below 0.2 mm, 89-98 wt% below 0.16 mm, 79-92 wt% below 0.125 mm, 65-80 wt% below 0.1 mm and 35-45 wt% below 0.063 mm.

摘要： Purified uncrosslinked cellulose ethers with a total salt content below 3% are claimed, where aqueous solutions containing up to 0.5 wt.% of the cellulose ethers have a loss factor (tan delta ) of less than 1.0 at an angular frequency of 1 Hz. Also claimed are cellulose ethers, especially carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), having the following properties: (a) the liquid absorption capacity of the CMC powder is more than 30 g/g, especially more than 35 g/g; (b) the particle size distribution after grinding and sieving is 100% 2 mm, 100% 0.5 mm and at least 80% 0.075 mm; (c) a 1 wt.% solution has a Brookfield viscosity of at least 10,000 mPa.s (LVT, 30 rpm, spindle 4, 25 deg C); (d) the water-soluble component is more than 99% (0.25% solution); (e) a 0.5% aqueous solution has a transmittance of more than 99.9% (550 nm, path length 10 mm).
