    • The irradiation device irradiates, at the time of recording main information, a first light beam having a first power and a second light beam having a second power on the pre-pits in a time-divisional manner. The light receiving device receives a reflected light of the first light beam from the pre-pits to produce a first light-receipt signal, and receives a reflected light of the second light beam from the pre-pits to produce a second light-receipt signal. The first detector detects the pre-pits based on the first light-receipt signal to produce a first detection signal, and the second detector detects the pre-pits based on the second light-receipt signal to produce a second detection signal. Then, the processor produces a logical sum of the first detection signal and the second detection signal to output a pre-pit detection signal. Therefore, the pre-pits can be correctly detected in both cases where the first light beam and the second light beam is irradiated, and all pre-pits on the storage medium may be detected to obtain the recording information.

    • On an information record medium, a plurality of synchronization signals are recorded by a predetermined record interval such that a record interval of two consecutive synchronization signals is transiently changed from the predetermined record interval. A method of controlling a rotation of a motor to rotate the information record medium is provided with the steps of: detecting the synchronization signals one after another from the information record medium; generating a standard signal having a predetermined cycle which is set in advance in correspondence with the predetermined record interval; detecting a changing amount of an interval, at which the synchronization signals are detected by the synchronization signals detecting steps, from the predetermined record interval; and controlling the rotation of the motor to be in a predetermined rotation condition corresponding to the predetermined cycle by canceling the changing amount detected by the changing amount detecting step, on the basis of the standard signal generated by the standard signal generating step and the changing amount detected by the changing amount detecting step.

    • There is provided an information recording device for recoding information onto an information recording medium including a first recording layer (L0 layer) having a first recording capacity and a second recording layer (L1 layer) having a second recording capacity. The information recording device includes: write means capable of writing information onto the first and the second recording layer; calculation means for calculating a loopback address used when recording information subsequently after the first recording layer and the second recording layer according to the all information amount and the first and the second recording capacity; and control means for controlling the write means so that (I) a first part of the information is written up to this loopback address (1AFFFFh) onto the first recording layer and (II) the remaining second part of the information is written, starting from the corresponding address (E50000h) of the second recording layer corresponding to the loopback address.
