摘要： A motor-driven compressor has a compression mechanism, a rotary shaft, an electric motor, a motor drive circuit and a housing assembly. The compression mechanism, the electric motor and the motor drive circuit are disposed along the axial direction of the rotary shaft in the housing assembly. The housing assembly has first and second housings. The first housing mounts the electric motor and the compression mechanism. The first housing has first and second mounting lugs formed integrally with the peripheral surface of the first housing. The second housing is joined to the first housing for accommodating the motor drive circuit. The second housing has a third mounting lug formed integrally with the second housing. The first through third mounting lugs are fastened to a mounting object to which the motor-driven compressor is to be mounted by means of fastening members.

摘要： A stator includes a first through a third windings, and a first and a second interphase insulators. The first interphase insulator has a first pair of strip-shaped insulating sheets and a first connecting portion. End portions of the insulating sheets are connected to the respective opposite end portions to form joints. The first connecting portion connects the insulating sheets so that the joints are shifted so as to be disposed in a region avoiding an interference with the first winding on both of a lead-extending side and the opposite side. In the second interphase insulator similarly constructed, a second connecting portion connects a second pair of the strip-shaped insulating sheets so that joints are shifted so as to be disposed in a region avoiding an interference with the third winding on both of the lead-extending side and the opposite side.

摘要： A coil of an electric motor is cooled by refrigerant. A controller for the electric motor controls a current supplied to the coil within a range less than or equal to a predetermined maximum value. A temperature detection section detects either a temperature of the coil or a temperature about the coil. When a detection temperature that is detected by the temperature detection section prior to activation of the electric motor reaches a predetermined reference temperature, a limiting section executes a limiting control to limit an upper limit value of the current supplied to the coil to a limiting value that is less than the maximum value. Accordingly, the coil of the electric motor is protected without stopping the operation of the electric compressor immediately after activation.
