    • In a docking station for a PC, a PCI adapter, an IDE controller, and a PC card controller operate when a PCI clock is supplied from the PC, and stop when the supply of the PCI clock is stopped by the PC entering a sleep mode. A driving signal output circuit outputs an actuation signal to a cooling fan drive circuit when the PCI clock is supplied thereto, and outputs a stop signal to the cooling fan drive circuit when the supply of the PCI clock is stopped. The cooling fan drive circuit includes a temperature sensor for detecting the internal temperature of a power supply unit, and controls on/off of the cooling fan on the basis of the detected temperature by this temperature sensor and an output signal from the driving signal output circuit.

    • The invention provides an apparatus and a method of hot docking/undocking a bus line and a peripheral device of a computer. The bus switch 60 connects and disconnects the bus lines 16a and 16b. The bus switch control circuit 61 generates on line 305-311 a bus switch control signal which responds to a turn around cycle from the signal on the bus line 16a and supplies it to the bus switch. The bus switch is operated to open/close in response to the bus switch control signal. Thus, the bus line 16a is in a turn around cycle in connecting/disconnecting the bus lines 16a and 16b so that the cycle operation of the bus is not affected by a noise accompanying opening/closure.

    • A docking device for a portable computer includes a body adapted to receive a portable computer. The body encloses a number of electronic components adapted to be connected to a portable computer via a number of signal lines. A connector is provided in the body which mechanically connects the number of signal lines within the body to a corresponding number of signal lines within the portable computer. The docking device also includes a signal connection means interposed between the portable computer and the electronic components for selectively electrically interconnecting the particular ones of the signal lines within the body to corresponding signal lines among the number of signal lines within the portable computer in response to an operating state of said portable computer. A preferred embodiment of the docking device further includes a control means for controlling the selective electrical interconnection of the particular ones of the number of signal lines by the signal connection means. In this preferred embodiment, the control means electrically interconnects the particular ones of the number of signal lines within the body to corresponding signal lines within the portable computer in response to an acknowledgment by the portable computer of a request by the control means to electrically interconnect the particular ones of the number of signal lines.

Plural welding gun magazines holding differing welding guns are disposed along side of a welding station into which the motorcar body is positioned. A framework surrounds the welding station and supports the main body of a welding robot which is movable laterally and longitudinally of the station. A turnable, swingable wrist portion is provided on a lower end of an upwardly and downwardly movable robot arm attached to the robot main body. The differing welding guns may be selectively attached to the wrist portion and moved about the motorcar body as desired to weld the remaining unwelded portions thereof.

    • Additional welding apparatus for welding the component parts of a temporarily spot-welded assembled motorcar body. The additional welding apparatus includes a first welding station and a second welding station. At the first welding station are front and rear pairs of under-portion welding robots positioned on floor surface surrounding the motorcar body, a machine frame extending laterally over the motorcar body, and opening portion welding robots suspended from the machine frame for welding the peripheral edges of opening portions in the respective component parts of the motorcar body. At the second welding station are a pair of further under portion welding robots positioned on the floor surrounding the welding station and a pair of upper portion welding robots suspended from a second machine frame extending laterally over the second welding station. Each of the opening portion welding robots has a gun-holding arm turnable about 360 degrees attached to the front end portion of a supporting arm which is moveable to advance and retreat to and from the opening portion.
