    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a valve characteristic without complicating a device and without enlarging a size of the device. SOLUTION: This variable valve system is provided with planetary gears 26 each of which rotates in an arrow B direction with the axial line of an inlet camshaft as a center based on a rotation of a crankshaft. The planetary gears 26 are meshed with an inner gear teeth 58a of a ring gear 58 and coupled to a drive plate 27 which integrally rotates with the inlet camshaft together with connection pins 55 and guide blocks 56. By rotation of the planetary gear 26 with the axial line of the inlet camshaft as a center, the same shaft rotates with its axial line as a center, and a rotation speed of the inlet camshaft becomes fast or slow by the rotation of the planetary gears 26 with the axis thereof as a center. The rotation speed of this camshaft is changed by displacing the ring gear 58 in a peripheral direction, the ring gear provided so as to surround the planetary gears 26 and the inlet camshaft.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent engine performance from being influenced by unevenness in the effective intake pipe length of each cylinder. SOLUTION: A suction control device comprises a surge tank 10 connected to an intake passage 3; a communication valve 21 to intercommunicate two volume chambers arranged in the surge tank; intake branch pipes M1-M6 to connect one of the sides in a longitudinal direction of the volume chamber to a cylinder and switch valves 22a and 22b arranged in each volume chamber along the longitudinal direction of the surge tank and the switch valves 22a and 22b to partition the volume chamber during closing and forcing an intake passage, running around the switch valves 22a and 22b and communicated with the intake branch pipes M1-M6 of cylinders C1-C6, in the volume chamber. The intake passage is connected to the side in a longitudinal direction, positioned facing the intake branch pipes C1-C6 with the switch valves 22a and 22b nipped therebetween, of the surge tank 10 and the communication valve 21 is arranged at a connection part between the intake passage 3 and the surge tank 10.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the waste metal of a cylinder head and to improve the cooling characteristic thereof by dividing an expendable pattern for casting the cylinder head by the parting lines running the junctures between ignition plug mounting parts and combustion chamber wall and running above suction and exhaust ports. CONSTITUTION:The cylinder head 11 is set with the parting line D, E, F, G, H extending horizontally from a suction side lateral face 22 toward an exhaust side lateral face 23 to form the respective expendable patterns corresponding to divided blocks 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106. The ignition plug mounting parts 12 and the combustion chamber wall 43 forming the base of a water jacket 19e are integrally connected in this stage so that the corresponding expendable patterns are formed across the blocks 104, 105, 106 and are divided in the posi tion of the parting line D. Fitting parts for registration are provided to the parting planes of the respective expendable patterns and the patterns are united to one body by an adhesive agent. The waste metal of the cylinder head is thereby eliminated and the cooling characteristic thereof is improved.
