摘要： A liquid crystal display (“LCD”) includes forming only a λ/4 plate between a polarizer and a display panel and setting a direction of an absorption axis of the polarizer and a slow axis of the λ/4 plate, so that the LCD can have a smaller thickness and its fabrication cost can be reduced while having better or the same characteristics than an LCD using both λ/2 and λ/4 plates. In addition, in an ECB mode backlit LCD, transmittance, contrast ratio, and viewing angles can be enhanced by attaching both the λ/4 or λ/2 plate and allowing the absorption axis of the polarizer and the slow axis of the λ/4 and λ/2 plates to have predetermined angle relationships.

The display device includes a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines crossing the gate lines for transmitting gray voltages corresponding to image data among a plurality of the gray voltages as data voltages, and a plurality of pixels connected to the gate and the data lines for receiving the data voltages. The pixels include first color pixels, second color pixels, and third color pixels. The first color pixels express a maximum luminance upon application of a first voltage having the maximum value among the gray voltages, and the second and the third color pixels express a maximum luminance upon application of second and third voltages less than the first voltage among the gray voltages.

摘要： In a transflective-type display panel and a display apparatus having the transflective-type display panel, the transflective-type display panel includes a first display substrate, a second display substrate and a liquid crystal layer. The first display substrate includes a first substrate and a common electrode arranged on the first substrate. The second display substrate includes a second substrate having a main pixel area where a plurality of sub pixel areas are formed, a plurality of transmission electrodes formed in the sub pixel areas and coupled with each other, and a reflection electrode arranged in at least one sub pixel area. Thus, the transflective-type display panel improves a viewing angle and a display quality thereof and improves productivity.

摘要： An adhesive is applied to a side of a 3D image forming device of a lenticular lens, parallax barrier, etc., and the 3D image forming device is adhered to an image panel. The image panel and the 3D image forming device are aligned whiling observing a 3D image of the adhered panel through a camera disposed thereabove. In this case, they are determined to be correctly aligned when a black stripe is positioned at the center of the image of the camera. Subsequently, the adhesive is hardened so as to fix the image panel and the 3D image forming device.

摘要： In an array substrate, a method of manufacturing the same, a color filter substrate and a display device, the array substrate includes a switching element formed in a pixel region and a pixel electrode member electrically connected to the switching element. The pixel electrode member has a plurality of patterned openings that extend in different directions from each other in the pixel region. The color filter substrate includes a common electrode member having a recess formed in a region partially corresponding to the pixel region so as to define a plurality of domains of liquid crystal. With the multiple domains, a viewing angle of the display device is increased to improve an image display quality.

The lower and upper transparent substrates face each other. The lower transparent electrodes are disposed on the lower transparent substrate, formed along a first direction, and formed substantially in parallel with each other along a second direction. The upper transparent electrodes are disposed on the upper transparent substrate, formed along the second direction, and formed substantially in parallel with each other along the first direction. The liquid crystal lens layer is disposed between the upper and lower transparent substrates, and a longitudinal arrangement direction of liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal lens layer is changed by an electric field to have a predetermined refractive index. Therefore, a refracted incident light produces a stereoscopic image for enhancing display quality.
