    • A method of estimating frequency offset of a received signal in a terminal apparatus comprises a) determining a phase change between a first and a second reference symbol of the received signal, wherein the time distance t between the first and the second reference symbols is associated with an observation frequency f such that f=1/t. The method further comprises: b) determining a preliminary frequency offset Δf based on the determined phase change, wherein Δf forms a frequency offset hypothesis Δfh; and c) decoding at least a part of the received signal, with application of the frequency offset hypothesis Δfh, to a decoded signal. The method further comprises: d) determining whether the decoded signal is a successful decoding.     • Channel quality metrics (such as SINR, BLER, and the like) are derived from a raw bit error rate (RBER), defined as the error rate of raw bits output by a demodulator. These initial raw bits are decoded and error-checked (or error-corrected). The error-free decoded bits are re-encoded, and the regenerated raw bits are compared to the initial raw bits to determine the RBER. The RBER is then converted to SINR, BLER, or other channel quality metric. The RBER-based metrics are derived from a data channel rather than reference signals, and hence more accurately reflect deviations from nominal transmission power level, and include receiver demodulator impairments.

    • Method and apparatus for enabling accurate link quality estimation of a wireless link between a sending node and a receiving node. When the sending node receives link state reports from the receiving node, it estimates the current state of the wireless link. The sending node also determines a measurement adjusting parameter if the link state reports are deemed inaccurate in relation to the estimated link state, based on a deviation between the received link state reports and the estimated actual link state. The sending node then sends the determined measurement adjusting parameter to the receiving node, and the receiving node provides a link state report based on signal measurements adjusted by the measurement adjusting parameter. The adjusted link state report can then be used for link adaptation of the wireless link and/or for packet scheduling decisions.
