    • PURPOSE:To remarkably decrease the area of an electrodeposition terminal part required for electrodeposition by forming a terminal part protective film by using the electrodeposition terminal of a one-color portion in common with a liquid crystal driving terminal part. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal driving terminal part of a transparent electrode 2 on a glass substrate 1 is extended so as to become uneven by a two-color portion and formed to a first color electrodeposition terminal 2A and a second color electrodeposition terminal 2B, and also, the liquid crystal driving terminal part is covered by using a protecting photoresist 3. In that case, a notch 4 is provided so that an end edge part of a third color terminal is exposed, the terminal exposed part becomes a third color electrodeposition terminal 2C, and a third color uses the liquid crystal driving and the electrodeposition terminals in common. On the other hand, in order to set the electrode required at the time of electrodepositing to an energizing state, a conductive material 5 is applied in order from the electrodeposition terminal being the most distant from a display area A, and as for this conductive material 5, silver paste is used. In such a way, an area required at the time electrodeposition on a transparent substrate can be decreased remarkably.

    • PURPOSE:To hold an interval between transparent substrates at a fixed value by spraying a gap control material for holding the thickness of a liquid crystal layer at a prescribed value over the whole surface of a substrate and spraying a gap control material having size for holding the substrate interval including the film thickness to a part other than a display part. CONSTITUTION:A color layer 13, a transparent electrode 14 and an orientation film 16 are formed on one substrate 11, a main seal material 18 is printed and then the gap control material 19 with a small diameter is sprayed to the whole surface. On the other hand, a transparent electrode 15, an orientation film 17 are formed on the other substrate 12, the display part is masked, the gap control material 20 with a large diameter is sprayed to the part other than the masked display part, and both the substrates 11, 12 are superposed. Since only the gap control material 19 with the small diameter exists in the display part and the gap control material 20 with the large diameter including the main seal part exists in the part other than the display part together with the small gap control material 19 in the liquid crystal display element, a prescribed gap can be held in spite of pressure in a pressurizing process, so that the interval between the substrates can be uniformed.
