摘要： A waterproof connector for electrical terminals has a housing containing cavities for the terminals arranged in upper and lower rows. Bus bar units are fitted in the rows of cavities respectively to connect the terminals in a predetermined pattern. A sealing member is installed on a rear end of the connector housing and held by a seal holder. The electrical wires connected with the terminals are sealed to the sealing member. A closed end cap is installed on the connector housing from the front end and a lip portion on the peripheral edge of the sealing member seals to the inner peripheral surface of the cap. To permit discrimination of the orientation of the connector, the seal holder has an unsymmetrical shape.

A restrictable projection 70 is provided at the rear end of the front-portion holding piece 50, and the front-portion holding groove 51 is formed with a restricting groove 71 for restricting an opening deformation of the front portion 37a of the outer wall 37 having the front-portion holding piece 50 by the engagement with the restrictable projection 70.

摘要： To provide a connector suited to being miniaturized. When a female terminal fitting 30 is inserted into a cavity 11 of a female housing 10, a locking portion 13 provided in the cavity 11 is restored after being resiliently deformed in a direction intersecting with inserting and withdrawing directions of the female terminal fitting 30, thereby resiliently locking the female terminal fitting 30. The female housing 10 is molded by a pair of front and rear molds which are closed and opened along the inserting and withdrawing directions of the female terminal fitting 30. The female terminal fitting 30 is formed with a fittable groove 53 which is open forward. A supporting projection 26 for engaging and supporting the fittable groove 53 to prevent the inclination of the female terminal fitting 30 in the deforming direction of the locking portion 13 is provided at a front end position of the inner surface of the cavity 11 displaced from the locking portion 13 in its deforming direction.

摘要： To prevent a terminal fitting from being inserted in an improper posture. Female terminal fittings 30 are insertable into cavities 11 provided in a female housing 10 from behind. A slanted guide surface 22 for guiding the female terminal fitting 30 into the cavity 11 is formed at the peripheral edge of the rear end of each cavity 11 by being slanted at an obtuse angle to an inserting direction of the female terminal fitting 30. A stabilizer-inserting groove 20 into which a stabilizer 47 projecting from the female terminal fitting 30 is insertable is so formed in the bottom surface of the cavity 11 as to have an open rear end. A preventing surface 27 against which the stabilizer 47 can come into abutment when the female terminal fitting 30 is inserted in an improper posture is provided at the peripheral edge of the rear end of the cavity 11. An angle of this preventing surface to the inserting direction is set smaller than an angle of the slanted guide surface 22 thereto.

摘要： A locking portion 40 resiliently engageable with a locking surface 24 of a female terminal fitting 10 is formed at a bottom wall 35 of a cavity 31 to project forward while being supported only at one end. An insertion groove 49 for permitting the passage of a locking projection 23 of the female terminal fitting 10 is formed in an upper surface 44 of the locking portion 40. The depth of the insertion groove 40 is made larger at the bottom end of an inclined section of a bottom 50 thereof than at the other part, thereby forming a thinned portion 52. When a backward pulling force acts on the female terminal fitting 10 engaged with the locking portion 40, a compressive force acts on the locking portion 40 in longitudinal direction. However, the locking portion 40 undergoes such a resilient deformation that the length thereof becomes L1 which is shorter than its natural length L0 while being bent at the thinned portion 52. Buckling strength is enhanced by as much as the locking portion 40 is shortened and, as a result, a force for locking the female terminal fitting 10 is enhanced.

An arcuate surface 12b having a shape substantially conforming to the arcuate surface 13c of the locking portion 13 is formed by recessing each lowered portion 12a of the bottom wall 12 to escape the locking portion 13 when the locking portion 13 is resiliently deformed as the female terminal fitting 30 is inserted and withdrawn.
