    • Disclosed herein is a method of driving an organic electroluminescence emission portion, the driving method including the steps of: executing steps from preprocessing step to writing step for at least continuous three scanning time periods; applying a first node initialization voltage to corresponding one of the data lines, and supplying the video signal instead of the first node initialization voltage for each of the scanning time periods; applying the first node initialization voltage from the corresponding one of the data lines to the first node through the write transistor held in the ON state, thereby initializing the potential at the first node; and applying the first node initialization voltage from the corresponding one of the data lines to the first node through the write transistor held in an ON state, thereby holding the potential at the first node.

    • A display device includes a display unit, a horizontal drive circuit, and a vertical drive circuit, the display unit including pixels in a matrix formation, as well as respective signal lines and scan lines via which the drive circuits drive the pixels. Each pixel includes a light-emitting element, a hold capacitor, a write transistor, and a drive transistor. Mobility fluctuations in the drive transistor are compensated for by successively setting the voltage of the signal line to an intermediate voltage and to a tone voltage. In addition, the intermediate voltage is varied in accordance with the tone voltage as well as with the distance from the input terminal of a write signal to a respective pixel. The device thereby compensates for mobility fluctuations in the drive transistor and prevents shading due to irregularities in the waveform of the write signal.

    • A display device includes: pixels each including a light-emitting element; scan lines and signal lines; a scan line drive circuit applying a selection pulse to each of the scan lines in succession; and a signal line drive circuit writing video signals to respective selected pixels through switching a gray-scale interpolation voltage, a basic voltage, and a video signal voltage to apply each voltage selected by switching to each of the signal lines. The signal line drive circuit performs gray-scale interpolation on a light emission luminance level for each of the light emitting elements through setting the video signal voltage to a fundamental gray-scale voltage, and through varying the gray-scale interpolation voltage. The scan line drive circuit starts and completes an application of the selection pulse during each of a period of a gray-scale interpolation voltage, a period of a basic voltage and a period of a video signal voltage.

    • A display apparatus employs a pixel array section including pixel circuits forming a matrix, signal lines as columns, scan lines as rows and power-supply lines, and driving sections. The driving sections are a signal selector, a write scanner and a drive scanner. The signal selector provides an electric potential representing a gradation or a predetermined reference electric potential. The write scanner provides a control signal. The drive scanner provides a power-supply voltage changing the electric potential from high to low. The drive scanner drives adjacent power-supply lines as a group. The number of lines as a group is determined in advance. The drive scanner switches a power-supply voltage from high to low and vice versa, and applies the voltage to groups by shifting the phase from group to group. The voltage is supplied to a group at the same phase and switched the electric potential.
