摘要： In the image forming apparatus by: visualizing an electrostatic latent image formed on an electrostatic charge carrying member; transferring a toner image, which is thus visualized, to a recording medium, or to a recording medium through an intermediate transfer material; and fixing the toner image, which is thus transferred to the recording medium, to obtain a recorded image, the toner includes at least a fixing resin, a colorant, a releasing agent, and an external additive, the toner has an average particle diameter in a range of from 4 to 12 μm and including no particle having a diameter of 45 μm or more, a ratio of a toner adhesion amount in a character part to a toner adhesion amount in a solid image part upon printing is more than 0.5 and less than 4, and the toner adhesion amount in a character part is 1.6 mg/cm2 or less.

Wax having number average molecular weight of not higher than 600 is contained as a component of the wax. A volume average particle size of the toner is in a range of from 5 &mgr;m to 10 &mgr;m. Toner particles each having a particle size of not larger than 4 &mgr;m are contained by 10% or lower by number of the total number of toner particles.

The abutting contact portion has an approximately circular arc form and is capable of coming into abutting contact with a sliding portion of an outer periphery of a reel mount, and the engaging portion is capable of engaging with an engaged portion of the outer periphery of the reel mount. The brake member is arranged to be rotatable around near the center of the approximately circular arc form of the abutting contact portion and movable toward the reel mount. The urging member is provided separately from the brake member and is arranged to urge the brake member so as to move the brake member toward the reel mount.
