    • In a device for fusing a toner image on a recording medium, a first roller provided with a heat source and a second roller are provided. A stretcher is elongated in a longitudinal direction of the second roller. An endless belt is stretched by an outer circumferential face of the second roller and a first face of the stretcher, and circulated in accordance with rotation of the first roller and the second roller. The endless belt is sandwiched between the first roller and the second roller to form a nipping portion through which the recording medium passes to fuse the toner image thereon. A supporter is disposed between the second roller and the stretcher. The supporter is elongated in the longitudinal direction of the second roller, and is provided with at least one first projection having a first face which is brought into slide contact with at least a longitudinal center portion of the outer circumferential face of the second roller.

    • An image forming apparatus includes development cartridges which develop an electrostatic latent image with toner, a rotary unit provided with the developing cartridges, an intermediate transfer belt which receives the toner image, and a controller. A length of the intermediate transfer belt is set such that a length of the image forming region is corresponded to a length of a set recording medium having a predetermined size and a length of the non-image forming region is corresponded to a distance between a rear end of the preceding one of the set recording mediums and the front end of the subsequent one. A rotational movement period of the intermediate transfer belt corresponding to the length of the non-image forming region is equal to or greater than a time required for switching the developing cartridges. The controller performs an switching operation of the developing cartridges in accordance with a size of a recording medium.

    • A transmission optical system comprises a concave surface mirror whose reflection surface is directed toward a deflection mirror surface and a transmission lens which is disposed between the concave surface mirror and the deflection mirror surface. A light beam deflected by a deflecting element at a first deflection angle is guided to the concave surface mirror via the transmission lens, and the light beam returned by the concave surface mirror is guided to the deflecting element via the transmission lens. In consequence, the deflecting element reflects the light beam twice, and the light beam is emitted toward a scanning lens at a second deflection angle which is larger than the first deflection angle.
