摘要： In a device for fusing a toner image on a recording medium, a first roller provided with a heat source and a second roller are provided. A stretcher is elongated in a longitudinal direction of the second roller. An endless belt is stretched by an outer circumferential face of the second roller and a first face of the stretcher, and circulated in accordance with rotation of the first roller and the second roller. The endless belt is sandwiched between the first roller and the second roller to form a nipping portion through which the recording medium passes to fuse the toner image thereon. A supporter is disposed between the second roller and the stretcher. The supporter is elongated in the longitudinal direction of the second roller, and is provided with at least one first projection having a first face which is brought into slide contact with at least a longitudinal center portion of the outer circumferential face of the second roller.

A rotational movement period of the intermediate transfer belt corresponding to the length of the non-image forming region is equal to or greater than a time required for switching the developing cartridges. The controller performs an switching operation of the developing cartridges in accordance with a size of a recording medium.

摘要： The technique of the present invention reads information, such as a use start date of a color laser printer, a cartridge detachment date, a total number of cartridges, used, a total consumption of toners, a total number of prints, and temperatures and humidities at an installation location, from a storage element of a toner cartridge, which has been attached to and detached from the color laser printer. When either the temperature or the humidity at the installation location is out of its normal service range, the technique modifies conditional values and determines whether immediate replacement of the main unit or each component of the color laser printer is required. When it is determined that immediate replacement is not required, the technique estimates a replacement timing of the main unit or the component, based on the above pieces of information.

摘要： An image It is formed as a patch image which includes a header image portion Ih of a solid image having a length of a circumferential length of a developing roller or more, and a gradation image portion Ig progressively varied in the tone level thereof from the maximum level to the minimum level. The densities of the patch image on an intermediate transfer belt are sampled. However, the sampling results contain errors resulting from noises or variations and hence, are subjected to a noise removal process, a periodical variation correction process and a reverse correction process. The results detected on the intermediate transfer belt do not always coincide with image densities (OD values) on a recording material. Therefore, the detection results are converted into the OD values, based on which tone characteristics of an apparatus is estimated. Then a tone correction table is updated in a manner to compensate for the tone characteristics. This approach is taken to improve image quality on the recording material.
