    • Herein disclosed is a portable wireless device comprising a first monopole antenna section 11 having a length substantially equal to ¾ of a wavelength of a first frequency band, an open sleeve section 12 having a length substantially equal to ¼ of a wavelength of the first frequency band, the open sleeve section 12 being arranged under the condition that the first monopole antenna section 11 and the open sleeve section 12 are parallel to each other, and perpendicular to a line extending through one end of the first monopole antenna section 11 and one end of the open sleeve section 12, a feeding section 13 for feeding a radio frequency signal to the first monopole antenna section 11 and the open sleeve section 12 at the same time, a grounded base plate 14 made of conductive material, and a wireless circuit 15 arranged on the grounded base plate 14. The portable wireless device is useful for an ultra wideband system, and able to reduce the influence from the operator.

    • There is provided an antenna element capable of implementing miniaturization, acquisition of a high gain, and broadening of a band and coping with multiple bands. The antenna element includes a first antenna element 5 having shape of a box (a rectangular-parallelepiped shape) in which a first conductor plate 51, a second conductor plate 52, and a third conductor plate 53 are arranged so as to define at least three surfaces of a substantial rectangular parallelepiped and in which electric power is fed from a substantial corner of a lower circuit board (a ground plate) 21 to the first conductor plate 51; and a second antenna element 6 having shape of a box (a rectangular-parallelepiped shape) in which a fourth conductor plate 61, a fifth conductor plate 62, and a sixth conductor plate 63 are arranged so as to define at least three surfaces of a substantial rectangular parallelepiped, the fourth conductor plate 61 being connected by way of a resonance circuit 7 to the first antenna element 5 at a portion thereof apart from a feeding point of the first antenna element 5.

    • Disclosed is a portable wireless terminal wherein deterioration in antenna performance when placed on a metal desk or other structure can be prevented without sacrificing designability and without increasing the number of components. In this terminal, a hinge part (103) functions as an antenna which resonates at a frequency of a first wireless system (150). A whip antenna (112) faces the surface of a first circuit board (104) that is opposite the surface faced by an input device (115), is disposed substantially parallel to the first circuit board (104), and resonates at a frequency of a second wireless system (160). A second contact spring (110) electrically connects a second wireless circuit (108) to the antenna element of a whip antenna (112) and is disposed perpendicularly to the first circuit board (104). A switch (113) grounds the whip antenna (112) and second contact spring (110) to the first circuit board (104) when the second wireless system (160) is not operating.
