    • A resonant optical device has a rod-like resonator made of a fiber-reinforced resin for resonant vibration. A reflecting mirror is supported on the leading edge of the resonator. A drive unit oscillates the resonator in a circumferential direction. The base edge of the resonator is anchored to a stationary platform. The reflecting mirror is oscillated by a torsional oscillation produced by oscillation from the drive unit so as to scan light incident on the reflecting mirror. The resonator satisfies the expression G/.rho..gtoreq.12.times.10.sup.6 Pa.multidot.kg.sup.-1 .multidot.m.sup.3, where the horizontal elastic modulus of the resonator is designated G, and the density is designated .rho.. The resonator also satisfies the expression .tau./G.gtoreq.0.01, where the torsional stress tolerance is designated .tau.. In one embodiment, the fiber-reinforced resin is a carbon fiber-reinforced resin.

    • A camera system which comprises a photo-taking lens assembly of varifocal type including a zooming lens and a focusing lens; a manipulatable member; a zooming drive device for driving the zooming lens during a manipulation of the manipulatable member; a focusing device for driving the focusing lens; a focal length detector for sequentially detecting a current focal length of the photo-taking lens assembly; a zooming amount calculator operable to repeatedly add or subtract a predetermined amount to or from the current focal length during the manipulation of the manipulatable member thereby to sequentially update a target focal length used as a reference for the drive of the zooming lens; a first control adapted to receive the target focal length updated by the zooming amount calculator for calculating the amount of deviation in focus which would occur before the target focal length is attained and also for controlling the focusing device so as to eliminate the amount of deviation in focus which has been calculated; and a second control for controlling the zooming drive device, when the manipulation of the manipulatable member is released, so as to drive the zooming lens to a position where the target focal length calculated by the zooming amount calculator is attained.

    • An autofocus camera comprises a focus detector for detecting a deviation of a photographic lens from an in-focus position with respect to a photographic object, a mirror driver for moving a mirror for reflecting a light beam from the photographic object to a viewfinder optical system, into and out of an image-forming optical path, a lens driver for moving the photographic lens to the in-focus position in accordance with the deviation detected by the focus detector, and an aperture controller for stopping down the light beam from the photographic object. The lens driver has a function for moving the photographic lens, and the aperture controller a function for making aperture adjustment, both during retraction of the mirror. During retraction of the mirror, the aperture adjustment is effected before the lens movement or vice versa.
