Frictional engagement of the limbs with respect to the spool permit the spool to pivotally drive the arms while also allowing selective, independent angular orientation of each of the limbs with respect to its respective spool.

    • A toy vehicle with a chassis carrying an axle for rotation has a hollow wheel mounted for rotation on the axle. Openings extend through the peripheral wall of the wheel that normally contacts a supporting surface. Inside the wheel a spider is secured to the axle for rotation with a number of legs spaced from the axle. A claw is attached to each of the legs for pivotal movement relative to the leg with the free end of the claw substantially within the wheel. Pivotal movement of the claw relative to the leg is permitted by a "living hinge" which also biases the claw to remain in the wheel. The hollow wheel is normally driven on a smooth surface through engagement with the spider-claw subassembly. However, when the wheel encounters a rough surface or obstruction that tends to cause the wheel to slip, the claws emerge and engage the surface and the vehicle clambers across the obstruction.

    • A method and apparatus for a video game in which a player controllable video player image positions video dominos at predetermined positions along a continuous line while one or more machine controlled video intruder images attempt to interfere. Manual player controls move the player image to place the domino images and to protect against interference by the intruder images which could result in a chain reaction of falling dominos. The player manually selects either a place mode allowing the player image to place additional dominos or a protect mode for protecting itself or the dominos from an intruder. In an alternative embodiment, the player image also knocks over dominos while in the place mode. Duration of play is timed by a machine controlled image proceeding in a peripheral path to knock over the initial domino. Difficulty is increased by the complexity of the domino pattern, the timed duration, and the intruder images.

    • A board game includes a game board with a plurality of playing positions arranged thereon. A first set of playing pieces, conveniently in the form of construction workers, are moved along the playing positions while other sets of playing pieces, conveniently in the form of barrels and fire balls, interfere with the progress of the first set of playing pieces. Conflicts between the first and second sets of playing pieces are resolved by a two suit deck of cards. A playing piece dispenser is arranged to dispense playing pieces of the first set, one at a time directly onto the playing surface. The playing piece dispenser includes a collection bin for storing a plurality of playing pieces in serial fashion. A pivotal arm is connected at an outlet opening of the bin to receive a single playing piece therein. The pivotal arm receives a playing piece when the arm is in a generally horizontal position. In response to downward pivotal movement instituted by the user, the playing piece slides through the pivotal arm to a position just over the playing surface so that the playing piece may be accurately deposited on the game board.

The game apparatus also includes a starting device for engaging one of the objects, causing it to fall into an adjacent object, thereby initiating a chain reaction of objects falling into adjacent objects in an orderly progression. The game apparatus may also include an assembly with a rolling element engaged by a trip member that is tripped by one of the objects. Once tripped, the trip member engages the rolling member which rolls across a surface to engage another of the objects to continue the chain reaction. A bridge may also be included in the game apparatus and allows a row of objects to pass over another row of objects. The game apparatus may also include a device for signaling the end of the chain reaction. This signaling device may include a trip member, a pivotally mounted flat and a weight that pivots the flag to an upright position upon impact of an object against the trip member.

    • A game apparatus includes a manually movable game object having a finite number of generally planar exterior surfaces upon which the game object may rest. In one embodiment, a game board includes indicia defining positions of placement and movement of the game object as it is rotated about an edge from one planar surface to another. The game object includes an internal microcomputer capable of detecting which one of the planar surfaces is generally parallel with or in contact with the game board or any other suitable supporting surface to identify the discrete positions of movement of the game object. The microcomputer may provide an identifying sensorially perceptible signal identifying the various discrete positions. In addition, the microcomputer includes a storing unit for storing sequential movements of the game object through a finite number of movements. The microcomputer also identifies player turns for movement of the game object and provides a sensorially perceptible event at the end of a player's turn or at the end of a game when an incorrect movement of the game object is made or when a movement is not attempted within a predetermined time period.
