摘要： The present disclosure provides a bipolar forceps. The bipolar forceps includes a housing having a handle assembly including a movable handle and one or more shafts. An end effector assembly operatively connects to a distal end of the shaft and includes a pair of first and second jaw members. A solenoid is in operative communication with the movable handle and operatively couples to a drive rod operatively coupled to at least one of the first and second jaw members for causing movement thereof. One or both of the first and second jaw members includes one or more teeth configured to engage one or more teeth located on the drive rod such that rotation of the solenoid imparts one of longitudinal and rotational movement of the drive rod such that at least one of the first and second jaw members moves between the open and closed positions.

摘要： An automated analyzer for performing multiple diagnostic assays simultaneously includes multiple stations, or modules, in which discrete aspects of the assay are performed on fluid samples contained in reaction receptacles. The analyzer includes stations for automatically preparing a specimen sample, incubating the sample at prescribed temperatures for prescribed periods, performing an analyte isolation procedure, and ascertaining the presence of a target analyte. An automated receptacle transporting system moves the reaction receptacles from one station to the next. The analyzer further includes devices for carrying a plurality of specimen tubes and disposable pipette tips in a machine-accessible manner, a device for agitating containers of target capture reagents comprising suspensions of solid support material and for presenting the containers for machine access thereto, and a device for holding containers of reagents in a temperature controlled environment and presenting the containers for machine access thereto. A method for performing an automated diagnostic assay includes an automated process for isolating and amplifying a target analyte. The process is performed by automatically moving each of a plurality of reaction receptacles containing a solid support material and a fluid sample between stations for incubating the contents of the reaction receptacle and for separating the target analyte bound to the solid support from the fluid sample. An amplification reagent is added to the separated analyte after the analyte separation step and before a final incubation step.

摘要： An insulating switch base with a top, bottom and an edge has openings through the top and one edge for a conductor. A conductive switch lead frame has proximal ends with insulation displacement connectors bent in the openings. A resilient member on the frame has a moveable contact and is conductively associated with a connector. A contoured arm on the frame is distal of, but conductive with, another connector. The arm is spaced from the resilient member as an open contact capable of momentary engagement. A frangible area on each frame is between the resilient member and the arm. Recesses in the top support retain the frame. A slot and barbs on each connector receive one conductor securely in an opening after aligned installation in an opening, seating of the frame in its recess and severing the area over a passage in the base. A membrane attaches over the frame and a molding is applied about the membrane leaving the resilient member open.

The end effector assembly includes first and second jaw members disposed in opposing relation relative to one another and moveable from a first, open position to a second, closed position for grasping tissue therebetween. Each of the jaw members includes a proximal flange adapted to communicate with a drive assembly for moving the jaw members between the first and second positions. One or both of the of the jaw members has a curved knife channel defined therein having a proximal end that is offset from the longitudinal axis defined through the shaft. A knife guide is assembled to an outer surface of one of the proximal flanges of the jaw members on the same side as the proximal end of the knife channel and defines a knife path therein configured to guide a knife into the knife channel for translation therethrough.

摘要： A surgical instrument includes an active electrode coupled to a source of electrosurgical energy. The active electrode includes a tissue-contacting surface on an exterior surface of the instrument such that the tissue-contacting surface of the active electrode may intimately engage tissue. A replacement electrode includes a tissue-contacting surface, and is located in an interior cavity of the instrument. A seal is formed between the active electrode and the interior cavity of the instrument such that the tissue-contacting-surface of the replacement electrode is isolated from contamination exposed to the exterior of the instrument. The active electrode is removable from the instrument to expose the tissue-contacting surface of the replacement electrode, and the replacement electrode is connectable to the source of electrosurgical energy when the active electrode is removed.
