    • When using a multi-receiver aggregation protocol in a wireless communications network, a sub-header may be used to identify groups of data units that share common parameters, such as destination addresses, acknowledgement modes, modulation/coding rates, lengths, etc. The layout of this sub-header may permit each receiving device to identify the portion of the aggregated payload that is addressed to that receiving device, where that portion is located, how long that portion is, and how to demodulate it. In addition, by controlling the selection and timing of various acknowledgement modes used by the mobile stations, a base station may improve overall network efficiency and throughput.

    • Techniques for supporting variable channel bandwidths in a wireless communications network are described. In one embodiment, for example, an apparatus may comprise a processor circuit and a communications management module, and the communications management module may be operable by the processor circuit to determine a channel bandwidth for communication over a channel of a wireless network, transmit a beamforming initiation message comprising a channel bandwidth parameter indicating the determined channel bandwidth, receive a beamforming initiation confirmation message confirming the channel bandwidth parameter, perform a beamforming training sequence to determine one or more beamforming parameters, and transmit one or more messages over the channel according to the determined channel bandwidth and the one or more beamforming parameters. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

    • Embodiments of a multiband central controller, a multiband communication station and methods for multiband network operations are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the central controller may be configured for multiband operations within non-coextensive frequency bands. The central controller may transmit a response frame to a receiving station that includes two or more multiband elements. Each multiband element includes a basic service set identification (BSSID) and may indicate an available channel and a frequency band associated with the available channel. The frequency band may be one of the non-coextensive frequency bands within which the central controller is operating. The multiband elements may provide frequency band and channel information to the station prior to the station joining a network that is managed by the central controller.
