摘要： An image forming apparatus including a cleaning device for removing toner, paper dust and other impurities left on an image carrier after image transfer with a cleaning member is disclosed. The cleaning member contacts the surface of the image carrier with variable pressure and remains, about the time when the image carrier stops moving after image formation, in contact with the surface with pressure lower than pressure capable of scrapping off the impurities. Before movement for image formation, the image carrier is driven in a reverse direction opposite to a forward direction assigned to image formation, stopped, and again moved in the forward direction and then in the reverse direction at least one time.

摘要： An image forming device, having a contact-type transfer carrying unit for improving the separation property of the transfer paper from an image supporter, such as a photoreceptor, is provided. The belt resistance from the applying current to the transfer belt and the actually applied voltage is determined to control to switch the front-end current switching timing and the current between the transfer papers. If the belt resistance is lowered, the timing for switching the front-end current is delayed and the current between the transfer papers is reduced. If the belt resistance is increased, the timing is advanced and the current is increased. The bias current is applied in a non-image region on the transfer paper, rather than the region between papers in conventional art.

In the first mode, a duty of the transfer bias is a first duty and a width of a transfer nip is a first width. The duty is (T−Tt)/T×100% where T denotes one cycle of the transfer bias, and Tt denotes a time period, in which the transfer bias is on a transfer-directional side relative to a time-averaged value of the transfer bias, in the one cycle.
