    • PURPOSE:To realize a surface acoustic wave(SAW) filter with low loss or a filter covering a wide band by employing an electrode finger whose width is a minimum of 1/16 of the wavelength of the SAW. CONSTITUTION:An exciting electrode finger 6-1 whose width is lambda0/8 with respect to the wavelength of a SAW is provided to a region L symmetrically in the horizontal direction and earth electrode fingers 7-1, 8-1 whose width is lambda0/16 are in existence at both sides via a space of lambda0/8. Through the constitution above, since electric force of lines are in existence symmetrically in the horizontal direction in the region L, it is possible to excite SAWs of the same amplitude and phase in the horizontal direction. Then earth electrode fingers 7-1, 8-1 whose width is lambda0/4 are arranged to the left at the outside of the region L and a space of lambda0/4 is arranged to the right. That is, the SAW excited in the region L is propagated toward the outside of the region L, but the propagation condition differs in the right and left directions. The different propagation region is in existence at both sides of the SAW excitation region whose width is L and a periodic structure is adopted for the entire transducer as one SAW.

    • PURPOSE: To set the center frequency by the order of ≥1 digit with high accuracy in the present photomask forming specifications, by increasing or decreasing the interdigital electrode with only as to one or plural interdigital electrodes within the conventional accuracy of the photomask at each repetition of the interdigital electrodes.
      CONSTITUTION: The insulating region of the interdigital electrode and between said interdigital electrodes is set to two kinds of widths, one width has a change being ≤1μm from the other and the relation of the combination of the two kinds of widths realizing the prescribed electrode pitch is provided repetitively to the entire filter. Figure (a) shows the state before the execution of this invention and figures (b), (c), (d) are the states after the execution. In figure (a), one wavelength is λ
      0 and the electrode with is 1/4-wavelength, i.e. (l). In taking the change in the electrode width as Δl, the minimum value of Δl is 0.1μm in the present photomask forming device. Thus, this invention is effective when the accuracy is requested to the order of ≤0.1μm.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a filter with excellent in-band characteristics, by setting an electric length between two transducers and an electric length between the transducer and an equivalent reflecting plane of a reflector to a prescribed value so as to eliminate the effect of a reflected wave. CONSTITUTION:A part of a direct wave reaching directly the transducer 6 among excited waves is a reflected wave 9, which is returned to the transducer 5. On the other hand, the wave reaching the adjacent reflector 1 is reflected on the equivalent reflecting plane 11 and passes through the transducer 5, and a part of it becomes a reflected wave 10. The reflected wave 10 is reflected againt on the equivalent reflecting plane 11 of the reflector 1 and returns to the transducer 5. The two reflectors 9, 10 are interferred with each other on the transducer 5, which causes a ripple in the in-band characteristic of the filter. In order to avoid the effect of the reflected wave, the electric length l3 between the transducers 5, 6 is brought different from by an odd number multiple from the length of twice the electric length l4 between the transducer 5 and the equivalent reflected plane 11 of the transducer 5. Thus, the filter having excellent in- band characteristic is obtained.
