摘要： Self-positioning of at least a portion of a transdermal electrical stimulation patch within a target area (e.g., supraclavicular fossa region) of a human body to activate a depot of brown adipose tissue therein. An electric field is generated using the electrical stimulation patch to activate the brown adipose tissue within the supraclavicular fossa region of the body. The patch is self-positioned using one or more anatomical points (e.g., anatomical landmarks and/or anatomical features) or markings on the body. Brown adipose tissue may also be activated by applying an electrical signal to a body piercing partially implanted proximate a target area in which the tissue is disposed.

摘要： Various compositions, methods, and devices are provided that use fluorescent nanoparticles, which can function as markers, indicators, and light sources. The fluorescent nanoparticles can be formed from a fluorophore core surrounded by a biocompatible shell, such as a silica shell. In one embodiment, the fluorescent nanoparticles can be delivered to tissue to mark the tissue, enable identification and location of the tissue, and/or illuminate an area surrounding the tissue. In another embodiment, the fluorescent nanoparticles can be used on a device or implant to locate the device or implant in the body, indicate an orientation of the device or implant, and/or illuminate an area surrounding the device or implant. The fluorescent nanoparticles can also be used to provide a therapeutic effect.

摘要： A compact laser programmable fuse structure has a central line and two sets of fuses extending from opposite sides of the central line. An opening through a passivation layer exposes the fuses and overlies the central line. In one embodiment, the opening also exposes the portions of the central line. The central line is made of fuse material or another material for which the opening does not create reliability problems. In one embodiment of the invention, the central line and the fuses are parts of a single contiguous region of polysilicon. This fuse structure has a length that is about half the length of conventional fuse structure having the same number of fuses because two fuses, one on either side of the central line, fit within a length used for a single fuse in conventional fuse structures.

摘要： An integrated circuit has a supply node for supplying power to at least one intermediate node coupled to circuitry for receiving power. Rather than transmit power from the supply node to the intermediate node by means of a power bus formed as part of the chip interconnect structure, power is supplied to an external wire which is coupled from the supply to the intermediate node. Other than as connected to the supply node and intermediate node, the wire is electrically isolated from the die. This structure and method for making the semiconductor package allow power to be distributed within a semiconductor chip without sacrificing valuable chip space and without requiring a special lead frame for distributing the power within the semiconductor chip.

摘要： An endoscopic clip applying system as described which contains a venting system and a clip applying support system which prevents closure of the mechanism before firing. Also, the system ensures proper loading of the clips and prevents them from falling out during loading. Further, the system describes an easily manufacturable, positively opening system which has minimized size requirements. Furthermore, a lock-out mechanism is provided so that the mechanism may not be inadvertently fired. The shaft resists excessive torque as well as holds the clip in place during firing. There are provisions for sealant and non back-up of the clips, as well as features which make the clip properly placed for closure.

The universal seal has an elastomeric sealing component with a centrally located interior region containing an aperture, and a concentrically located sealing region. The sealing region is composed of an integral laminate having an overlaying layer co-molded with an underlying layer. The overlaying layer has a hardness between about 40 Shore A Durometer Scale and about 80 Shore D Durometer Scale. The underlying layer has a hardness between about 5 Shore A Durometer Scale and about 40 Shore A Durometer Scale. The co-molded laminate balances the properties of tear resistance and elasticity which are necessary for a working universal seal, and does so without the need for resilient legs or protectors to facilitate the opening of the aperture of the seal or to prevent tearing when instruments are inserted.
