    • PURPOSE:To improve the surface performance of a coated film by forming said coated film containing the polishing agent made of chromium oxide and the bonding agent made of vinyl chloride-vinyl active-vinyl alcohol onto a nonmagnetic supporting body, thus permitting the sufficient polishing without damaging the tape sliding surface of a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A polishing tape is constituted of a nonmagnetic supporting body 1 and a coated layer 2 formed onto the supporting body 1. Said coated layer 2 contains a polishing agent 3 and a bonding agent, and said polishing agent 3 consists of the polishing particles made of chromium oxide having a Mohs' hardness of 8.5 or so, and the bonding agent is made of vinyl chloride- vinyl acetate-vinyl alcohol. Therefore, the tape sliding surface of a magnetic head 4 can be smoothly polished without damaging the tape sliding surface by the polishing agent 3 having a proper hardness. Further, since only vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-vinyl alcohol as three component copolymer having the superior dispersion performance is used as bonding agent, said polishing agent can be uniformly dispersed into the coating liquid, and the surface performance of the coated film can be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium having improved oxidation resistance, high sensitivity and good S/N having a magnetic layer formed by treating the surfce of ferromagnetic metallic powder having respectively specific values or above of specific surface area and satd. magnetization with an org. compd. to improve dispersibility and incorporating the same into a binder. The magnetic layer is formed on a substrate by using the coating liquid prepd. by dispersing such surface-treated feffomagnetic powder into a binder resin soln. The dispersibility of the magnetic powder and the oxidation resistance by air and humidity are thus improved and the magnetic recording medium having an excellent squareness ratio, electromagnetic conversion characteristic, S/N ratio, etc. is obtd.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape which can realize a large recording capacity, does not generate string like shaving waste, has good running durability and electromagnetic conversion characteristic, and is advantageously used particularly for computer data recording. SOLUTION: A magnetic layer 13 having a thickness of 0.1 to 1.5 μm is provided on one side of a supporting body 11 through a nonmagnetic layer 12 having a thickness of 1.0 to 2.5 μm. On the other side of the body 11, a back coat layer 14 having a thickness of 0.1 to 1.0 μm is provided. The layer 14 is made of combined materials, dispersed into binder, including carbon black, calcium carbonate and an inorganic powder of a Mohs scale of 5 to 9. A magnetic tape 1 is made by slitting the layers 13 and 14 and the body 11 in their longitudinal direction. Then, define a peak point 17 which is located upward from the center line of the body 11 in the thickness direction along the slit cross section and is projected to the outside. A line 18 is vertically drawn from the peak point 17 along the slit cross section. Then define a thickness δ between the line 18 and the slit end face of the slit cross section of a back coat layer. In the tape 1, the thickness δ is set to be within 3 to 7 μm.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent drop-out even when a magnetic tape supporting material is composed of a material having a higher rigidity by arranging a non-woven cloth friction sheet between both surfaces of magnetic tape wound to a pair of flangeless type hubs and the internal wall surface of each cassette half. SOLUTION: A magnetic tape suitable for high density recording assuring a large recording capacity is formed as thin as 3 to 7 μm and is composed of a supporting material having comparatively higher rigidity such as aramide to obtain higher running durability. Non-woven cloth forming friction sheet is formed by thermally bonding the polyolefine-base, polyacryl-base and polyamide-base fiber as long as 2 to 9 μm. The desirable non-woven cloth has the tensile strength of 1.5 to 4.5 kg/15 mm, the width of 15 mm and sheet thickness of 0.2 to 0.55 mm. When the tape is running at a high speed, the fiber is less fuzzed and generates less amount of running dust and moreover dust generated from fiber gap is fetched to prevent re-adhering to the tape.
