    • PURPOSE:To always obtain stable traveling durability even under severe conditions such as high temp. high humidity or low temp. low humidity and to prevent deterioration of characteristics of the medium by incorporating quater nary ammonium salt of specified phosphoric ester into a magnetic layer or into the surface of the magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording medium consists of a nonmagnetic supporting body and a magnetic layer formed thereon. The magnetic layer or the surface of the magnetic layer contains quaternary ammonium salt of phosphoric ester expressed by formulae I and/or II. By using the quaternary ammonium, ionic bond with the phosphoric ester can be increased, which signifi cantly suppresses dissociation of salt against changes in temp. and hyumidity. The ammonium salt itself has high melting point and gives solid lubricating effect, high adhesion property and good lubricating property in a wide temp. range. Thereby, when a binder containing polar groups is used as the binder for the coating type magnetic recording medium, the effect of the ammonium salt is significant. Thereby, the medium has stable traveling durability even under severe conditions such as high temp. high humidity or low temp. low humidity, and shows no deterioration in the characteristics during storage.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a metal thin film type magnetic recording medium having excellent weather resistance and durability under various environmental conditions of a wide range by providing a ferromagnetic metal thin film magnetic layer the surface of which is treated with halide of oxo acid having substd. or unsubstd. hydrocarbon group on a nonmagnetic supporting body. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording medium has a ferromagnetic metal thin film magnetic layer on a nonmagnetic supporting body and the surface of the magnetic layer is treated with halide of oxo acid having substd. or unsubstd. hydrocarbon group to form a strong protective layer comprising substd. or unsubstd. hydrocarbon on the surface of the magnetic layer. This protective layer protects the metal thin film magnetic layer and improves weather resistance and traveling durability of the medium. The halide of oxo acid modifies the metal thin film surface and adheres thereon to form an extremely strong surface-treated layer which has large protective effect for the magnetic layer. Thus, the medium has excellent weather resistance and durability under various environmental conditions of a wide range.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an optical information recording medium having high preservation durability.
      SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the optical information recording medium includes the steps of: coating a disk shaped substrate having a hole section at the center up to the outer peripheral tip section of the substrate with cyanine-based dye to form a dye recording layer; removing the dye recording layer of the inner side vicinity region of the outer peripheral tip section of the substrate to form an exposed region on the substrate surface; forming a reflection layer on the recording layer; and forming a protective layer on the reflection layer and the exposed region of the substrate surface. Removal of the dye recording layer is conducted using 1-methoxy-2-propanol before the cyanine system dye applied layer is dried.
