摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil which can generate a desired high voltage and can be assembled easily, by suppressing the occurrence of cracks in a resin insulating material near the inner peripheral corners of both end sections of an outer peripheral core in the axial direction, without enlarging the physical body of the coil in the radial direction. SOLUTION: In an ignition coil, an outer peripheral core 25 is not in direct contact with an epoxy resin 26, because the inner peripheral corner of the end section of the core 25 positioned on the higher voltage side of a secondary coil 21 is covered with a corner member 50, and the inner peripheral corner of the end section of the core 25 on the lower voltage side is covered with another corner member 55. Each corner member 50 (55) is composed of a rubber ring 51 (56) and a metallic ring 52 (57). Therefore, the ignition coil can generate a desired high voltage by preventing the occurrence of cracks in the epoxy resin 36 near the inner peripheral corners of both end sections of the core 25. In addition, the corner member 50 (55) can be assembled easily, by the reinforcement of the metallic ring 52 (57) to the member 50 (55), because the member 50 (57) is not deformed.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil capable of preventing the generation of dielectric breakdown in the coil itself and generating required high voltage. SOLUTION: A core 12, magnets 13, 14, a secondary spool 21, a secondary coil 22, a primary spool 23, a primary coil 24, an auxiliary core 25, etc., are stored in a case 11a for an ignition coil 10 and the case 11a is filled with epoxy resin 26. Since each spool is molded so as to contain a 5 wt.% rubber component in a resin material for molding the spool in order to improve the toughness of the spool, the spool can repeat expansion and contraction without generating cracks in a state stuck to each coil even at a low temperature. As a result, the generation of discharge along the cracks of the spool between wire rods constituting the coil can be prevented. In addition, the generation of discharge between the secondary coil 22 for generating high voltage and the core 12 can be prevented, and the generation of dielectric breakdown between the coil 22 and the core 12 can also be prevented.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal cornbustion engine ignition coil which is enhanced in insulation durability in a high-temperature environment. SOLUTION: An ignition coil 2 is so formed as to be housed in a plug hole provided to each cylinder and composed of a cylindrical transformer 5, a control circuit 7 which is located at the one edge of the transformer 5 and interrupts the primary current of the transformer 5 intermittently, a case 100 which is capable of housing the transformer 5, the control circuit 7, and the others, and a connector 6 which is located at the other edge of the transformer 5 and feeds the secondary voltage of the transformer 5 to an ignition plug. The case 100 is made of PPS(polyphenyl sulfide) which comprises 15 to 40% by weight of glass fiber and formed like a cylinder shaped in one piece with the connector 6 through injection molding. By this setup, the case 100 can be more enhanced in insulation durability than that made of PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) and increased in tensile strength in a high-temperature environment.

A packing 32, which is formed of rubber or the like, is formed into a thin disc having substantially the same diameter as the outer diameter of the upper end of a case 100. The packing 23 is fixed so as to be nipped between the upper end surface 106 of the case 100 and the inside surface 31d of a lid part 31, and also situated between the inside surface 31d and the upper end surface 7a of the igniter 7. Since the igniter 7 is energized on the transformer part 5 side in the axial direction of an ignition coil 1 by the packing 32, the igniter 7 can be fixed in the axial direction of the ignition coil 1 together with a primary spool 514 for supporting the igniter 7.

SOLUTION: A secondary spool 510 is molded with resin into a bottomed cylinder, and its ends are provided with flanges 510a and 510b, between which flanges 510d, 510e and 510f are provided toward the high-voltage side. The positions of the flanges 510d, 510e and 510f are set according to the potential distribution in a secondary coil 512. Specifically, the secondary voltage in the secondary coil 512 increases with the number of its turns; therefore, the flange 510d is positioned where the number of turns of the secondary coil is reached. The flanges 510e and 510f are positioned in the same way.
