    • Comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) assays and compositions for use in practicing the same are provided. Aspects of the methods include first preparing genomic templates from an initial genomic source by using precursors of circular template nucleic acids, e.g., padlock probes. The precursors include first and second domains that are at least partially complementary to substantially neighboring regions of a genomic domain of interest. In certain embodiments, the methods include an isothermal amplification step, e.g., a rolling circle amplification step. The resultant templates may then be employed to produce target nucleic acid populations, e.g., for use in CGH applications. Also provided are kits for use in practicing the subject methods.

    • The present invention provides for an icon with an additional level of functionality that allows a user to validate that current information (e.g., a web page) originates from the true owner of the icon and is not merely a copy. The method includes a user requesting a web page from a web site using a web browser. The web server receives the request, retrieves the web page and forwards it to an authentication server. The authentication server inserts an authenticity key into the web page, then the page (including the authenticity key) is returned to the user. If the page includes an authenticity key, the authenticity is verified at the user's computer because the user computer includes logic (e.g., software) to verify the authenticity. During the user configuration process, the user defines an authenticity stamp which determines the format of an authenticated page.

    • Present systems and methods provide for adaptive job-size prediction that can enable the user of a scan-to-export function to obtain continuing feedback as original documents are being scanned, regarding the transferability of a scanned and processed data file. The compression method that is selected to process a scanned image is used to predict the output size for the associated data and to provide an estimated size for the job. The estimated size of the data being prepared for output is compared to the amount of storage space that is available at the target device and if the estimate exceeds available space, a signal is generated to terminate the scan or take other appropriate action. The user is also immediately notified if the transfer will fail for other reasons, such as the entry of an invalid target destination address or invalid user authentication.
