    • An ink jet head is furnished with an electrothermal transducer which has a heat-generating resistor (1). (1), when energised, generates thermal energy, which is utilised for direct heating of an ink on a thermal action plane and thus for jetting the ink. The heat-generating resistor (1) is made of a material contg. Ir, Ta and Al. The component material of (1) is a non-monocrystalline, polycrystalline or amorphous substance, or a mixt. of these. It contains O,C,N,Si,B,Na,Cl or Fe as impurities. (1) has a structure consisting of a laminated plurality of layers. The electrothermal transducer is furnished with a pair of electrodes to conduct electricity to (1) when it is in contact with (1). The thermal action plane comprises (1) alone or (1) and a protective layer formed on it. The protective layer comprises a Ta layer forming the thermal action plane, (1), and an Si insulating layer existing between (1) and the Ta layer. (1) is 300 Angstroms - 1 micron thick (pref. 1000-5000 Angstrom). An ink jet device is equipped with the ink jet head.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an ink jet recording device compact, reduce harmful effects due to steam or a temperature increase in the device, and sufficiently improve an image quality by a small consumption power by arranging a means which heats the recording surface of a recording medium from the rear side with infrared rays, and an infrared ray reflecting member on the recording surface side of the recording medium at the location being confronted with the heating means. SOLUTION: A plate-form infrared heater 101 is arranged directly under a recording region, and the recording region is heated from the rear side of a recording medium 112. In addition, a reflecting plate 100 is attached on the recording surface side at the location being confronted with the infrared heater 101. In this case, the infrared heater 101 is a heating body wherein on the surface of a ceramic heater, a composite oxide film containing silicon or the like, is provided. In addition, for a composition of the film, other elements are selected for the purposes of the improvement of the infrared ray emissivity and the adjustment of a wavelength to show a maximum emissivity. By this constitution, an image grade is improved by a small consumption power, and at the same time, the heater unit can be made light-weight and compact, and in addition, a damage of the adhesive due to steam can be avoided.
