A refrigeration subsystem having a compressor (107) coupled to the engine shaft uses its evaporator (45a) to cool engine intake air. The ORC evaporator (25a) may comprise a muffler including pressure pulse reducing fins (121, 122), some of which have NOx and/or particulate reducing catalysts thereon.

A drain is incorporated into a water circuit for draining all of the wat outwardly of the circuit when the system is shut down. In a preferred embodiment, a wat outlet of the gas cooler is at the vertically lowermost portion of the water circuit. A drai valve is placed in this vertically lowermost location such that the water can be easily drained.

摘要： A method of detecting and diagnosing operating conditions for a heat pump water heating system includes the steps of monitoring system operating conditions and comparing actual operating conditions to predicted operating conditions. The predicted operating conditions are based on expected pressures and temperatures given current system inputs. A difference between the actual and expected values for refrigerant pressures and temperature outside a desired range provides indication of a fault in the system. The system controller initiates a prompt to alert of the need for maintenance and direct to potential causes.

摘要： A method and system for operating a cascaded organic Rankine cycle (ORC) system (100) utilizes two waste heat sources from a positive-displacement engine (106), resulting in increased efficiency of the engine (106) and the cascaded ORC system (100). A high temperature waste heat source from the positive-displacement engine (106) is used in a first ORC system (102) to vaporize a first working fluid (118). A low temperature waste heat source from the positive-displacement engine (106) is used in a second ORC system (104) to heat a second working fluid (130) to a temperature less than the vaporization temperature. The second working fluid (130) is then vaporized using heat from the first working fluid (118). In an exemplary embodiment, the positive-displacement engine (106) is a reciprocating engine. The high temperature waste heat source may be exhaust gas and the low temperature waste heat source may be jacket cooling water.

摘要： A transcritical refrigeration system includes a compressor, a gas cooler, an expansion device, and an evaporator. Refrigerant is circulated though the closed circuit system. Preferably, carbon dioxide is used as the refrigerant. A variable speed drive controls the speed of the refrigerant flowing through the compressor. Varying the speed of the refrigerant flowing through the compressor changes the mass flow rate of the refrigerant in the system to optimize the coefficient of performance.
